"Hey! What's wrong? Did something happen?" Elijah asked, grabbing Luna's hand.
"No, I just need to get home." Luna insisted and freed herself from his grasp.
"Let me take you home" Elijah suggested.
"I'll be fine. I need to clear my head a little" she denied his offer. She really needed some alone time after what happened.
"Are you sure? It's late" he stopped in front of her.
"Yeah, it's okay. Thanks" she smiled, patting him on the shoulder.
"But are you sure?" he asked again.
"Yessss. It's okay. I can go home on my own, don't worry" she said, getting annoyed.
"Okay. If something happens, call me, okay?" he knew that something was wrong but if she didn't want to talk, then he wouldn't force her.
"Okay" she smiled weakly.
She left him there, looking at her and went on her way.
Walking away she kept thinking how was she going to face Lucas tomorrow. How would he react to it? Will he pretend that nothing happened?
She tried to take a shortcut, walking around different streets and paths thinking it was the right one. She looked up at the night sky and saw an eclipse. Stopping for a second, she took in the beauty of a lunar eclipse. She loved the moon, mostly because her name was Luna but she also loved how beautiful she looked, lit up by the sun at night. How the clouds were moving across it, making it disappear for a while.
"I should've gone with Elijah" she regretted her decision after figuring out that she walked aimlessly through these paths. She started looking around to find something familiar or something that can show her the right way, but nothing was near her. There were just buildings that looked the same.
She got out her phone and opened Maps right as her phone turned off.
"Shit" she cursed "I'm out of battery" she started tapping her phone and she almost threw it on the ground.
After a sigh, she calmed down and put her phone in her purse. She tried looking around for a phone booth but she didn't find any.
"Where are those when you need them" she thought.
She walked through some sketchy dark streets, feeling scared. Every five seconds she kept hearing sounds that were coming from a factory near her.
Luna tried to find some people to ask for directions but nobody was out this late, everybody was asleep except for some drunk people walking around. She thought that they would be of no help so she didn't bother asking them.
"Hey there pretty lady" some drunk guy came up to her and grabbed her arm.
"Get off me!" she shouted and kicked him in the shin.
"Aaaaa!" the drunk guy shouted and dropped on the ground rubbing his shin.
"Bitch" he cursed, looking at her.
"Bite me" she growled back.
"Gladly" the guy winked.
She rolled her eyes and continued with her path, hoping no other incidents like this will happen.
"What did I get myself into?" she cried out loud and leaned on a wall.
"I'm a mess" she thought, going down the wall and crouching against it.
Everything that happened came crashing down on her. She never wanted for any of this to happen. She was strongly against romance at work and followed that rule diligently.
With her peripheral vision she saw some movement, snapped her head towards it and stood up, but it was gone. She felt chills running down her spine and started jogging. From the ally next to her, she heard some cats roaming around a dumpster, making her jump and clutch her purse.
She began to hear all kinds of sounds that made her paranoid. Thinking how stupid she was for doing this, she abruptly stopped when a man with a ski mask showed up in front of her. She widened her eyes and turned the other way, running.
It was of no use because the man easily caught up to her and grabbed her by her forearm, pulling her towards him. He pulled on her sweater and it just fell on the ground. He then grabbed her arm and squeezed her, trapping her with his other arm. She started screaming and thrashing in his arms, hitting him in the crotch. He grunted and let go of her to hold his crotch, dropping on the ground. Using this opportunity, she started running with all of her might.
While running, another guy showed up and quickly dragged her, tripping her. She felt a bump forming on her forehead. Trying to escape, she bit his arm. He hissed and started bleeding. She took the opportunity and started hitting him but he covered her mouth with chloroform as she flopped lifelessly in his arms.
He dragged her towards his van, picked up the other guy and drove off.
