Lunar Eclipse

Chapter 20

Luna stepped inside the office when a loud sound shocked her.

"WELCOME BACK!" everybody in the office shouted. Luna has widened her eyes in surprise and clutched her chest from the scream.

"What?" she said mid-chuckle.

"Welcome back, we missed you" Matthew said and pulled a party pooper in front of Luna's face.

She got startled and smacked his shoulder.

"You shouldn't have guys" she widened her smile and looked around. Everybody was waiting for her. There was food on the tables, balloons and even a cake. She was so touched that she started crying.

"What's wrong?" Lucas asked her, patting her on the shoulder. Elijah gave her a tissue to wipe her tears.

She grabbed the tissue and started drying her face with it."I just-" she sniffed "I'm so thankful for you guys. You always cheer me up and make me happy, even though you sometimes make fun of me" she chuckled. She was a tough cookie but she was too emotional sometimes.

"We're always here for you" Matthew said " We're grateful for having you and I would love to continue with this welcome party BUT, we have to go back to work. There's a lot of it waiting for us" he added.

Luna sighed and remembered why she came in the first place. To work.

After a while, a paper airplane hit Luna's face. She grabbed it and looked around.

Opening it she saw a message.

Meet me in front of the building after work - L

She looked at Lucas, smiling. He pretended like he didn't notice it but he had a little smile plastered on his face.

She made a paper plane too and threw it towards him.

He gladly opened it and saw her message.

Where are we? In middle school? - L

He chuckled and looked towards her direction to see an empty seat. Looking around, he turned his chair in the opposite direction of his desk and felt something cold on his face in a second.

Luna shoved the cake in Lucas' face and started laughing. She was planning this from the moment she saw the cake.

He cleaned his face with his hand and glared at Luna, who was still bending from laughter. When she calmed down, he got up and started walking towards her. She walked backward until she reached the wall and backed up against it. He looked furious. 

"Oh come on, you can wash that off" she awkwardly chuckled, regretting her life choices.

He lifted his hand, still serious, and cupped her face, getting closer. She looked around and saw that some people were still there.

"Lucas! There are people here. They'll see us"

"So what?" he smirked.

 Then he suddenly cupped her face with his other hand that was covered by cake and smeared it all over her face. 

She huffed and pushed him off of her.

"Why did you do this?" she asked, wiping her face.

"Oh come on, you can wash it off" he quoted her words, smirking.

She suppressed a laugh and went to the bathroom to clean herself properly, ignoring him. After she finished, she went to her desk to pick up her stuff only to be met by Lucas grabbing her hand and dragging her out.

When they got into Lucas' car he didn't say a word to her, nor did he start the car.

"Will you please just say something?" Luna turned towards him. He looked at her and reached for the seatbelt to fasten it for her.

"You were taking a long time to do this" he said after clasping it. 

Luna's face got red and she cleared her throat.

"I'm sorry about the cake earlier. I just thought it'll be fun" she apologized, fiddling with her fingers.

"It's fine. Something else bothers me" he sighed.

"What is it?" she curiously asked.

"Earlier when you say that people will see us. Do you not want people to know we're together?" he asked turning towards her to look at her properly.

"I just...You know how people are. They start talking a lot and it annoys me. Plus we have the same workplace" 

"So what? Let them talk. Listen-" he faced her "- I want the whole world to know that we're together. I don't want anyone to take you away from me" he honestly said.

"Awww, that's so sweet. Don't worry I'm all yours" she pecked him on the lips.

At that moment, Matthew passed right by Lucas' car and saw them.
