"What cases do we have for today?" Luna turned towards Matthew.

"Well, there is one a murder case. You can take it if you want" he handed her the files.

"Oh, yes please. I was getting bored from all of these robbery cases." she sighed taking them. Even though she was good at her job, Matthew kept giving her minor cases, worried she would get hurt.

She started looking through them and focused on solving the case. When she was working, she never noticed what was happening around her.

"Hey, what are you working on?" Elijah asked her after a while, sliding his chair towards her.

"Just this arson case." she said, still looking at the papers, twirling a pen in her arm.

"Let me help you" he said, getting closer to look at the papers too.

They worked together and after a while, they decided to go to the crime scene.

"Woah, this looks nuts" Elijah said, pinching his nose and making a disgusted face. There was a corpse on the floor. It had a knife wound around her stomach, chest and a throat slit. It was covered in blood. The one that did this atrocity must've been mad at her.

"Yeah, it happened three days ago" she said, looking around the bloodstained walls. There was blood everywhere. She stepped into the living room and saw the shattered windows, marks on the wall and disarranged furniture.

"How did the fight start?" she approached the inspector in charge of this case. Looking around, she predicted that it was a short fight.

"We're not sure yet. We don't know who initiated it" he said, crossing his arms.

"It looks like it lasted for a while" Elijah said.

"Yes. The neighbors told us that they've fought like that a couple of times before." the inspector resumed.

"Okay, let's go back to the office and examine the evidence" Luna turned to Elijah. She looked at the body one last time after leaving.

They went back to the office. On their way there Luna was wondering if the murder was set up by the husband.

"Hey, what if... the husband killed his wife so he could take the insurance money from the wife?" Luna asked Elijah after they got to their office.

"Hm..." he thought for a while "I don't know. That might be it. We need more evidence tho"

As Luna was working on the case, she was really focused. You could've seen gears rotating in her head.

"Boo!" someone startled her. She jumped from her seat, her hair sticking on her face after she looked up. Every time someone scared her, her blood pressure went up.

"What is wrong with everybody startling me. Jesus" she breathed out, clutching her chest.

"I'm sorry. You just seemed so into it. I thought you needed a laugh" Lucas said and leaned on Luna's desk.

"And your idea of making me laugh is to startle the white hairs out of me?" Luna chuckled, crossed her arms and raised her eyebrows.

"Yess...?" he raised his voice at the end, grinning.

"Okay" she sighed "You're going to leave me alone now because I really need to work on this" she stood up. She put her arms on his shoulder, turned him around and shoved him towards his desk.

"But I-"

"No but's. I need to work on this. We'll talk later" she cut him out.

Lucas pouted and slowly sat on his chair.

While she was working, he didn't avert his sight of her even for a second.

Right at that moment, their boss was walking past them. He noticed Lucas' staring but he brushed it off. He was strictly against office dating. Luna knew that and that's why she didn't want anyone finding out about them.

"Okay, so here's the evidence that I was right" Luna drops papers on Elijah's desk.

He looked through them and found out that indeed the wife had a lot of insurance money.

"Well, let's go. We have evidence to present" he said as he got up from the chair.

After that, the husband went to court, where the judge sentenced him to life long prison and Luna and Elijah got praised from Matthew for solving the case. They found out from the neighbors that the husband and wife were at the brink of divorce. But then, the husband found out how much insurance money the wife had and decided to take it by murdering her.

"Good job" Lucas ruffled Luna's hair. She swatted his arm away and glared at him.

"Can you not do this here" she gritted her teeth.

He raised his hands in defense and smirked.

Their boss was watching them from his office, clearly being more suspicious of them now. Because he was a thorough man, he waited to have solid proof before saying anything.
