"Palesa listen, just put it on the side, it will look fine." I said to my best friend who was fussing with a big blue bow that was part of my birthday outfit.
"It will look better on the back." She countered.
"Buhle." I pleaded to my other best friend.
"It looks better on the back ,Nana." She said with a shrug. I groaned but nodded for Palesa to put it on the back.
Buhle is a no nonsense taking type of person and she's brutally honest and doesn't really care who her truth hurts on the way. So that's why I always take her opinion over Palesa's, not that she doesn't tell the truth. It's just that sometimes she can be a little self serving.
"Hand me the white eyeliner." I reached out to grab the eyeliner from Buhle, then I applied it to my eyes, dragging it along the roots of my eyelashes forming a cat eye shape.
"Blue or pink? " I held out the two lipsticks towards my friends.
"Pink!" They both said in unison.
Pink it is, I applied the pink lipstick and put on a bit of blush on my cheeks and glitter all over my chest and a bit on my eyelids as well. I was finally done with my make up now all I had to do was brush my hair.
Palesa had been kind enough to do my hair. Just simple jumbo cornrows that were lemonade inspired. They were really long reaching just above my butt, with the help of extensions of course.
Today's my special day and we are practically going all out because, I'm the craziest out of all my friends and I like exaggerated things which are just like me and...like my outfit.I wore a white crop top with the cake emoji on the front 🎂, my belly button ring was clearly on display, and I wore a blue glittery shiny tutu that stopped mid thigh with black tights underneath. The tutu was accompanied by a long blue silky bow that sat on my back, reaching just above my knees. And my trusted grey Vans too. And to top it all off I wore fairy wings.
As crazy as it may seem the outfit worked well. I looked a bit nuts, sure, but I still had my sex appeal.
"I still can't believe your mom is still letting you have this little party, even after what happened on Saturday." Buhle said as she brushed her hair. She finally cut her hair after complaining for eons about how she wanted to try something new. She basically cut the sides and braided the middle into cornrows and it actually suits her, not that I would ever cut my hair. It took me years to get my hair where it is now, and I'm not going to ruin that by cutting it. She was dressed up in a denim dungaree with a bright yellow Spongebob T-shirt and black vans with bright yellow shoelaces.
And by Saturday she's talking about that whole Noah drama. I was so tempted to tell her about what happened with Noah while Palesa was in the washroom, I really needed to tell someone to get it off my chest. I know Buhle wouldn't tell Palesa what happened if I asked her not too. But I didn't want any conflict and secrecy between my friends. Plus Buhle would probably force me to tell her, and I'm in no place to have more drama stewing in my life.
