Lesedi was bouncing up and down with excitement, I still don't understand how she could have so much energy after staying up all night to pack for today's camp.

Lethabo had left before us in order to be on time for school since the prefects would be leaving a bit late into the morning.

I helped roll her bag down the narrow paths between the shacks, she was all smiles, she even let me do her hair and pick out her denim jeans, sneakers, and plain blue t-shirt outfit, that's how perfect she wanted to be.

She would be gone for three days and a half, she would be coming back on the first of the new school term, just like Dian.

Once we made it out of the shacks I waved over a taxi and climbed into it.

"Sedi, please don't do anything stupid like play spin the bottle or go skinny dipping at night, this is your one chance to show the teachers you are worthy of the title of head girl. I am not saying be stuck up and snobbish and treat everyone like they are below you." I advised.

She puffed out her cheeks before she released the air, "yes, I get it, be assertive but not too overwhelming." Smart girl.

"I'm proud of you, banyana ba Tau are great leaders, look at me, I was the head girl at my Primary school and I think I have a good chance of being the head girl at Hawe." I boasted.

She nodded her dimpled smile appearing, she kept wringing her hands together and looking outside the window she was beginning to look like an energised bunny.

We got off the taxi and headed to the school office where I would be paying for the camp. On our way she greeted all the teachers with a friendly smile, she was so sweet, sweeter than I am because I have my favourite teachers and let us say if you were a certain Juffrou Grobler I would have gave you a side-eye and continued on my way.

Once all payments were made I waited with her to get on the bus, you could see the learners buzz about with excitement. They had all worn their best clothing and were carrying fast foods that they would be eating. But because of the last-minute decision, I couldn't get Lesedi anything besides a pie, a soda and a bag of chips (zimbas), that would be enough to keep her fed until they arrive plus the camp was only three hours away.

They started loading the students onto the bus and I quickly gave Lesedi a bit of money, " this is for extra snacks you might have to buy, you have to leave some money for a taxi after camp because I can't pick you up I won't be back from school by then."
