Dian
"Okay,I know how this looks." Naledi said cautiously.
"You know how it looks?" My mother mocks with a nasty snarl on her face.
"Mom please, let's all calm down, please." I begged with my hands raised. It was clear tempers were about to flare and I was trying to keep the peace.
"Madam please, let the child explain herself. Please." Jabu begged of my mother.
I felt like I was the only one left out of the loop. What does what look like?
I looked over at the newspaper, there were pictures of both Naledi and I.
A star leads the way.
Teenager Naledi Tau (whose name means Star) is set on brightening and leading the lost and hopeless stuck underneath the starless night sky.
Naledi Tau is the number one student at Hoërskool Hawe ,she is known for taking off her time to assist those in need whether it be academically or emotionally, one of her most recent rescues ,Dian van Wyk (on the left).
The Hoërskool Hawe Golden boy was known for his lively nature and involvement in school activities, and sports achievements; one of his greatest being chosen as the captain of the school's rugby team.
The golden boy has not been in our pages for a while and that's because he was stuck underneath the starless night sky after he was injured in a five car accident. Which was a result of a taxi driver's reckless driving which left three people dead including the father (Daniel van Wyk) of Golden boy Dian van Wyk.
Naledi who is helping Dian cope with his emotional turmoil reports that Dian is heavily depressed and is afraid that she might not be able to help him,but she promises to not give on the Golden boy....
The article goes on, praising Naledi for "saving" me and making me seem like a pathetic little broken child.
It hurt. It hurt a lot.
I could feel my eyes begin to sting as I felt my heart break, piece by piece. But I was not going to cry in front of her, I would not give her that amount of satisfaction.
"Is that what I am to you? A mere project. A publicity stunt?" I ask softly.
"Dian, please, please you have to let me explain, it's not what it looks like..." She said with furrowed eyebrows her lips formed into a frown, she had her hands in the air trying to calm me down, but I couldn't trust her, every fucking word that would come out of her mouth would be nothing but lies.
"Don't you fucking bullshit me!" I didn't want any of her bullshit." Answer my question ,am I just part of a fucking publicity stunt?"
"Okay, look at first I was just supposed to mention that I was tutoring you,but the reporter must have twisted and turned me words around."
"You were supposed to mention ...me?" I asked in whisper, feeling dread wash over me,I was hoping she would be able to convince me other wise,I was hoping that she would tell me it's all a misunderstanding.
"So I was right, all I am to you is a god damn publicity stunt." I looked at her in disbelief,I felt a fat wet tear roll down the one side of my face,I don't know why I was crying in front of her ,i didn't want her to see me like this,I didn't want her to feel any kind of satisfaction about the pain she's causing me.
