as a child
she wore a crown
of plastic and fake jewels
head held high
the world an insignificant speck
at her tiny feet
her dolls, they bowed
faces grazing the ground
in her mind she saw people in their place
trembling in her wakeas a teenager
she was untouchable
full of quick smiles
and evil lies
laden with sunshine
and violent hurricanes
those who knew saw beauty
those who didn't were scared
her plan was now in motion
her kingdom slowly taking rootas an adult
she lived
she loved
she laughed
never too much
never for too long
switching the mask she wore
easily and effortlessly
one mask of smiles and laughter
and one of hatred and raw anger
her kingdom had roots
now she nurtured them
growing them into young trees
she bared fangs at those who opposed
for you were either with or against heras an old lady
her bones no longer young
but old and frail, weathered by age
she stood at her kingdom
now tall and strong
the old plastic crown was discarded
and in its place one of metals and jewels
the dolls were a distant memory
replaced by people at her feet
a childhood dream
became a vivid reality
for as a child she knew her destiny
and all her life she worked towards it
now she sat upon her throne
a queen in all her majesty
