they tried
they tried to banish me
cage me in this human flesh
muscle and skin were prison bars
and two eyes my only escape
feet were only useful so long
until the tiredness came
and plagued methey thought
they thought i would love the taste
knowing my life could end in seconds
caged in this human flesh
an endless reminder of their mockerythey laughed
they laughed at my current state
forgetting i too am a child of gods
forgetting my veins filled with ichor
forgetting i could bring their kingdom
begging at my feeti knew
i knew i was of gods and goddesses
of kings and queens
and that my place was set
in the land of those who ruledi became
i became who i knew i was
carving mountains from clay
creating galaxies from small strokes
and watched the world fall in placeo, zeus
will you not let me drink from your cup?oh, hades
will you not let death sit upon my tongue?oh, apollo
will you not let me burn the remnants of human flesh away?you dared underestimate me
for i am of gods and goddesses
of kings and queens
and i shall bring your kingdom down
until i taste bittersweet immortality
