platonic

there's a space they say
between being friends and more
the friend-zone they call it

it is the difference between
boy friend and boyfriend

a small space between two letters
defining the demarcations
of said relationship

there is no friend-zone for me
there is no boyfriend in my vocabulary
such things do not give me pleasure

there is only boy friend

so I bid away with society's rules
and penned my own in ink
there will be no friend-zone

only the platonic-zone

where we can hold hands
rest on each other's shoulders
endlessly say I love you—
with no romantic feelings attached

it's a step above friendship
and a short ride down from romance
but yet in its plainness
it is perfect for me

sometimes it is hard
trying to explain that I love someone
without feeling the need
to kiss them and be intimate

so I simply say,
I love you as a friend

regardless of the explaining
here I'll stay
in the platonic zone forever
and maybe you'll join me
or maybe not, we never know
but here I am to stay
forevermore

regardless of the explaining here I'll stay in the platonic zone forever and maybe you'll join meor maybe not, we never knowbut here I am to stay forevermore
