Zoo Shiki X Reader

You woke up to the sound of birds chirping out your window. Yawning, you came out of your room to find Shiki watching T.V with a grin on his face.

"Hey, (Y/n), come check this out!" Shiki called, patting the seat next to him. You followed his instructions as he paused the T.V.

"There's a zoo that just opened recently, I was wondering if you would wanna go with me?" His question threw you off guard for a moment.

Shiki? Actually wanting to spend time with you in public? Is this a joke?

It was as if Shiki had read your mind as he spoke up.

"Is is really that bizaar that I want to spend time with my girlfriend?" He chuckled lightly, putting his head on your shoulder and sighing contently.

The two to you sat there for a bit, just casually watching T.V in silence before Shiki spoke up.

"This is nice and all, but are we still going to go?" He asked suddenly, gaining your attention.

You gave him a puzzled expression as he continued.

"Look (Y/n), do you want to go to the zoo with me or not?" There was a hint of annoyance in his voice as he took his head off your shoulder.

"Huh? You mean now? But isn't it too cold?" You asked as he shook his head.

"There wouldn't be a commercial for it if it wasn't open. And besides, it's an indoor zoo. Now, hurry up and go get ready."

You nodded your head in understanding as you quickly ran towards your room, changing into a casual outfit with a warm winter jacket.

After leaving the apartment, the two of you walked hand in hand until you spoke up.

"Do you even know how to get there?" You asked as he shook his head.

"Of course I know how to get there; don't worry about it~" You decided to trust his comment as you continued to walk beside him.

After about twenty minutes or so, the two of you stood before the entrance for the zoo. You looked around in shock at all the animals in sight.

"Woah, (Y/n) look at this!!" Shiki called, running across the room towards a large den, revealing an orange and black tiger.

"Wait up-" You ran towards him but stopped at the sight.

The tiger was large and glared at you and Shiki, and while you were intimidated, Shiki had a concerning grin on his face.

"Isn't she beautiful...?" He asked, trailing off into thought.

You were about to ask how he knew it was female but remembered how female tigers contained a smaller figure.

"Just imagine; the stripes on her fur alone is enough to scare away those lower than her. I'm sure she always gets her way and can devour anyone who dare to pick a fight with her..." It was if he was in a trance as he talked about the tiger's dominance over the jungle.

The way he said devour slightly concerned you, but you couldn't help but agree with him as he gazed into the tigers eyes oh so lovingly.

He hasn't looked at you like that in a long while...

But no!! You didn't have time to wallow in self pity as you diverted your attention to a new cage.

It was small, but held a breed of birds you've never seen before.

You approached the cage with a light smile on your face as the birds happily chirped.

"(Y/n), I never knew you were into cages~" Shiki chuckled, walking towards you.
