Chapter 22

"Found you~"

Ritsuka's eyes went wide. You didn't need to turn around to know who stood behind you.

You knew that voice all too well.

It was angered but playful, an ominous tone of voice, yet fitting for your situation.

But it was too late.

No matter what you did next, it was all over.

You took a deep breath and turned around. Shiki was right behind you and you looked into his blood orange eyes.

He smirked.

"There you are, my darling little (Y/n). I've missed you~" His voice was too chipper.

Ritsuka looked at him in disbelief.

"When I came home and noticed you were gone, I was terribly worried. I'm glad you're safe~" 

He approached Ritsuka, walking in front of you as you watched from the side.

"I believe I've told you before to stay away from her, haven't I?" His voice got deep, and it only got that deep when he was truly angered.

He raised his hand at her as Ritsuka stepped back.

The wind was blowing against your face as he lightly said something to her that you were unable to hear.

"But still!! You can't do that sort of thing to her and think you can get away with it!" Ritsuka yelled.

"What did you just say to me!?" He yelled back.

"(Y/n) isn't some toy for you to play with, she's still a human being and deserves to be treated like one!!"

"What would you even know about it, you little brat?! You think you're so special as the rest of the student council flocks to your every command!!"

Ritsuka fell silent for a moment.

You were unsure of what Shiki had meant, but you knew this was no time to ask.

"Well, I don't give a damn about you! (Y/n) belongs to me and no one else!!"

Ritsuka attempted to approach you but he put his arm in front of you as if protecting you.

"Come on (Y/n)!! We can escape together!! Nothing good will come out of staying with-" She got cut off by Shiki.

"Don't start filling her head with illusions!! She did this to herself, and it's far too late to save her! She belongs to me and no one else!!" He was almost hollering in defense at this point.

Both you and Ritsuka noticed him fall silent and take a few deep breaths.

He turned around at you with a smile on his face.

That was what scared you the most.

"So, shall we go?" It was more of a statement rather than a question.

He grabbed hold of the back of your shirt collar and dragged you away, your entire body colliding with the snow.

You watched as Ritsuka got further and further away into the distance. She was screaming your name until her older brother came and took her inside.

Tears began to form in your eyes...

You had a feeling this was the last time you would ever see Ritsuka again...

Once her house was out of sight, you then payed attention to the matter at hand.

Shiki.

As he dragged you in the snow, you could hear faint humming. His upbeat mood could only mean you were in danger.
