The Perfect Gift

You woke up bright and early on a cold, December morning; happily stretching out of bed.

"Today I'm going to get the perfect gift for Shiki!! He'll be so excited!!" You cheered to yourself as you got dressed.

"I can't wait!! I'll make him smile with the best present in the world!"

You ran towards the couch to catch Shiki sound asleep, snuggled up underneath a soft blanket.

A part of you wanted to let him sleep...

But what fun would that be?

You took a deep breath before screeching,

"SHIKI!!!!"

"AAAA WHAT THE HELL (Y/N)!?"

You giggled.

"Good morning~"

He stared at you in disbelief and bewilderment before he turned his back and covered himself with the blanket.

"Shiki!! Come on, wake up!! Don't you know what day it is!?"

He didn't say anything.

"It's Christmas Eve!! Aren't you excited?" You asked with a grin.

Everybody should be excited about Christmas, so why wasn't he?

Don't think too much about it, he's probably just tired.

You waited for some type of response but never got one as you stood there silently.

Not wanting to aggravate him any further, you went back to your bedroom and grabbed a light jacket.

Even though you wanted to go Christmas shopping with Shiki, you didn't want to force him if he wasn't feeling up to it.

Besides, this was your own fault; he told you to go a few days ago but you put it off until the very last minute...

You put on your jacket and your favorite hat, walking towards the door with a wallet in your pocket.

"Shiki, I'm going to go shopping, don't you want to go with me?" You asked, leaning down only able to see his back.

He stayed silent.

You couldn't tell if he was asleep or ignoring you, so you quickly wrote a note on the off chance he fell back asleep.

You put the note on the side table by the couch he was sleeping on and walked out the door.

Looking back one more time, you felt bad for not bringing him along, but you couldn't exactly buy him a present if he was there beside you...

Shiki's P.O.V

I was still asleep when I heard her suddenly yell my name.

"SHIKI!!!!"

"AAAA WHAT THE HELL (Y/N)!?" I shouted back, genuinely confused and upset to be woken up like that.

"Good morning~"

"..."

I glared at her, not in the mood to entertain her smile and turned my back to her.

I rubbed my head against the couch and closed my eyes, trying to get comfortable again.

"Shiki!! Come on, wake up!! Don't you know what day it is!?"

I don't know what day it is, but by the looks of it, it's too early to be awake.

The sun hasn't even full risen yet...

"It's Christmas Eve!! Aren't you excited?"
