Chapter 13

You and your class sit in front of the gym teacher as she explains the rules to dodge ball.

You, Ritsuka, and Azuna already know the rules and don't really pay attention. The three of you decide to stick together and do your best.

There were two bins full of sports balls. Side by side were soft cushioned balls designed for dodge ball, and then a bin of volley balls.

The students were split into two groups and each group went to their side of the court.

At the blow of the whistle, the balls were tossed from one side to the other. You haven't gotten serious about a game before, but with Ritsuka and Azuna trying their hardest, you felt like you had to as well.

You got a few girls out and a high five from Ritsuka. It felt fun to ignore all of your problems and to run around the field.

The other team had a small amount of girls left on their side of the court. The atmosphere was tense but determination was filled in you and your team's eyes.

You have never talked to most of these girls before, but you were all on the same team with one objective in mind; to win.

Unfortunately, Ritsuka was hit on her leg but was cheering for you and Azuna on the sidelines.

You were so focused on the game that it took you a moment to realize Ritsuka calling your name in panic.

"What's wron-" Before you had time to ask, you felt something hard collide with your head as you fall face first to the ground. 

Dirt goes down your throat and you start to cough.

"(Y/n)!! Oh my God, are you okay!?" You can hear Ritsuka's voice as you try to lift your head.

It hurts.

It seems as though the game had stopped and everyone was looking at you as the whistle blows.

A weird noise escapes your mouth and you cough out the dirt. Some has already been swallowed and it wasn't a pleasant feeling.

You try to lift your head but are met with immense pain. You can hear the girls all talking and wondering who had hit you.

"Who knew a soft dodge ball could hurt that badly..." You say, trying to calm down.

"That wasn't a dodge ball you were hit with, (Y/n)." You can hear Azuna's voice and you open your eyes. Right in front of you was a white volley ball.

"B-but how...?" You ask, forcing yourself to sit up. You ignore the pain and look up at Ritsuka.

She turns around and says something to the teacher. She then lifts you up and attempts to walk to the infirmary.

You lean on her for support and do your best to walk on your own.

"I-I'm so sorry. You can let me go, I'll be o-" You let go of Ritsuka only to stumble back down to the ground. 

You feel dizzy, but she offers her hand and you take it without argument. 

After a few moments of struggling, you are now lying down on the bed in the infirmary.

"Does it hurt anywhere??" Ritsuka asks, grabbing a chair and sitting beside you.

"My head is pounding..." You mumble, trying to talk without hurting your head.

Ritsuka looks around the empty infirmary. "It doesn't seem like anyone's here..." She then walks towards the fridge and comes back with an ice pack in hand.

She places it on your head and the cold distracts you from the pounding.

"Who hit me...?" You ask, feeling weak.
