When you woke up, you were by yourself in bed. It almost felt lonesome for a moment before you rubbed your eyes. But something caught your attention. It smelt as if something was...burning?

Oh great, did Shiki burn something again? He probably did. As you thought this, you left the bedroom and saw Shiki in the kitchen hidden behind a puff of smoke.

You weren't even alarmed at this point and walked over towards him, "What did you burn now?"

Shiki batted away some of the smoke so he could see you and spoke up, "I was just trying to make toast-"

"All of this smoke was from toast?" You snickered. You'd think after all this time, he'd at least know how to use a toaster...wait...why was the toaster empty?

"Shiki..." You had a suspicion as you walked further into the kitchen. He didn't-

You opened the oven and swatted away smoke to reveal a black square which must have originally been bread. This dumbass put bread in the oven...

"Didn't you see the toaster?" You asked, opening up a window to let the smoke out. He didn't say anything for a moment as the smoke began to clear.

"I forgot that we had one." He said simply. You pointed towards the toaster on the counter as he went "Oh..."

You rolled your eyes but couldn't stay mad at him. You walked towards the counter and took out a new piece of bread. The bread was placed into the toaster and you turned the dial, showing Shiki how to properly make toast. When you looked over, he seemed to be attentive as he watched you. You just sighed.

"So, if you're making breakfast, does that mean we're going to school?" You asked, walking into the living room as he nodded his head.

"There aren't any surprises today, so I won't be asking you to skip. I can't keep you from your education, that's not fair to you..."

You were still trying to get used to this new caring side of your boyfriend as you just nodded your head.

"I guess; it's not like I have any big dreams or something. I just went to school because everyone else did." You stated honestly without much emotion. Shiki gave you a puzzled expression.

"I thought you liked school?" He asked, "You used to bug me all the time that you wanted to go."

"Well, when it's taken away from you, you realize how much it means to you. I guess being forced not to go against my will was the reason I wanted to go. Mainly just to get out of that room."

He looked to the ground, and you could only guess he was feeling bad about how he treated you. It was a little over the top, and really really unnecessary, but at least he had remorse. "It's not that big of a deal, I'm fine now."

"..."

The sound of the toaster beeping interrupted the silence as you scurried to take it out before it burned. Shiki didn't move as you took care of the toast and placed it on a plate, walking over and handing it to him.

"No, that toast is for you." He tried to push it away but you set it down on the coffee table.

"Just eat it-"
