Namjoon panted as he leaned against the tree. Before gravity could pull him down, he placed Aera and Jungkook down. There was a loud thud when his body met the ground. He ran as fast and as far as he could. He knew the safe place was a couple more miles away but he had reached his limit.
"What the hell was that?" Namjoon breathed.
It was a pointless inquiry to state aloud. Like the many questions that threatened to split open his skull. Aera and Jungkook were the last in his list to provide any answers.
How did he only recognize Yoongi now? Why was there a gap in his memory?
Maintaining what was left of his composure, Namjoon stood and attempted to contact Hoseok or Jisung. He hoped his best friend finally escaped that place.
Jungkook, on the other hand, focused to remove the bullet from his thigh. The bullet had not gone deep as he had thought. Once he forced the bullet out, he ripped a portion of his shirt to serve as a bandage.
"Do you really need that?" Namjoon asked.
"I don't want to force Aera to give me blood if she's not okay. It's just a small wound anyway." Jungkook answered. "It's my way of respecting her will."
Namjoon nodded and turned his attention back to his phone. He nearly jumped in joy when his call was answered.
"Jisung where the hell are you? We need back up here." Namjoon hissed into the phone. A high pitched voice scolded him from the other end before he let out a sigh.
Meanwhile Jungkook pulled Aera into a tight hug. He stroked her hair and hummed softly, waiting for her to calm down. She relaxed in his hold and listened to his heartbeat.
She couldn't believe that Taehyung would do that. The person who she thought understood her and would protect her and Jungkook turned out to be the one to hurt them. Why would he do it?
"We need to go now. Jisung's waiting for us at the gate." Namjoon said. He didn't dare look at the two lovers. "It's just a couple of miles down this path."
They began walking, Aera trailing behind them. Jungkook leaned on Namjoon for support as he still couldn't walk well.
"I thought you hated me." Jungkook mumbled.
"I do, but you're important to Aera. You lied to me." Namjoon answered. "You have everything I wish to have."
"I'm sorry," Jungkook muttered. An uncomfortable feeling crawled beneath his skin. He didn't know why but he felt anxious.
"Don't be sorry that you love her. Just be a good man okay?" Namjoon said.
"So sweet, makes me want to throw up." A familiar voice laughed.
The two looked back and saw Teng holding Aera. He held a knife to her throat, grazing it hard enough to draw blood. Namjoon took a step closer, prompting Teng to press the blade harder.
"Namjoon, give them up." Taehyung said. He emerged from the shadows, his pink eyes staring directly into his.
"I won't get hypnotized." Namjoon stood his ground, defiant.
