"Don't be afraid, I'm right here beside you."
Jungkook looked around the dark abyss. He took careful steps as the ground beneath him rippled. He walked endlessly until he saw a light shining. He ran towards it and let it engulf him.
The abyss materialized into what seemed like a basement. It was cold and dusty as various junk were resting in piles. The opening of a door caught his attention. He stood like a deer in front of headlights as a beautiful woman entered the basement. The woman paid no heed to him and walked through him.
Jungkook followed her, curious of what was inside. What made him even more curious was who was this woman and why was she in his memories.
She stopped before a big metal cage and the clicking of a lock sounded. She opened it and entered it, placing down what seemed to be a cup.
"I'm sorry mommy could only come now, Jungkook." The woman cooed.
Jungkook's eyes widened and he moved to get a better view. A small boy was shivering under a thin blanket. His hair and eyes were white as he stared up at the woman.
"She's my mother?" Jungkook's voice shook as he approached the scene. The woman helped his child form drink the dark red liquid.
"I had trouble finding animal blood. I'm sorry if it doesn't taste good." His mother said. He watched as the color came back to his child form.
"Mommy how long will I be here? How long will daddy keep hitting me?" The child asked.
"I promise one day we'll escape this place sweetie. For now, I have a surprise for you." The woman gave his child form two keys. "This is for your cage and the other is for the way out of the basement. Make sure that no one sees you when you play outside okay?"
The little boy's face lit up as he happily accepted the keys. He pulled his mother into a tight hug.
The scene dissolved, only for another to replace it. This time it was a slightly older version of himself wandering the halls of the palace. He couldn't help but smile at his younger self's curiosity and amazement. The child suddenly ran and hid behind curtains as another person rounded the corner.
Once the coast was clear, Jungkook's child form emerged from his hiding spot and let out a silent sigh. In the blink of an eye the child was pinned down by another— someone who seemed familiar.
"Who are you?" The masked boy asked. At that moment, Jungkook realized although young he knew that deep voice from anywhere. The two seemed to exchange a couple of words before Jungkook's child form smiled widely.
"If you'll be my friend I'll keep it a secret and I'll be your friend so you could keep it a secret!"
The scene distorted as more scenes came flashing of his younger self interacting with Taehyung. Both seemed to have fun and at some point, a female joined them.
"Her name is Ara, she's my half sister!"
Jungkook wondered why Jisung wanted to keep his memories away. He had so many happy memories and didn't know how the situation ended up to something so brutal.
The happy memories suddenly shattered and Jungkook was brought back to the basement. There, he saw a man beating his child form.
"Father I'm sorry." The child sobbed.
Jungkook wanted to peel the man off the poor child but his hands only went through. Why would he be beaten?
"I told you not to get caught or go outside! Now look what you did! You killed one of the maids!" His father stopped on him over and over again until the boy could barely move. "Jungkook-ah, daddy is sorry. This is for your own good."
