**Chapter 23**

I walked down the all too familiar white hallway, making my way down to Dr. Gil's office. Memories of past encounters here threatened to invade my mind. I didn't like coming here, and Dr. Gil knew that. It wasn't her as a person. It was just the questions she had to ask to get me to talk to her. I didn't like talking about my very personal issues. I never really have been comfortable talking to her, and she always understood that. When we had normal conversations, I was comfortable talking to her. It was appointments like last time that I really dreaded going to. I'm really hoping we can have a normal conversation this time. When I approached the wooden door, I knocked a few times, waiting for Dr. Gil to open her door and let me in.

Moments later, her door opened, revealing Dr. Gil, holding a toothy grin on her face. Her crow's feet around her eyes and the wrinkles around her mouth were more noticeable when she smiled, "Julina! Please come in!" she said, gesturing for me to come in.

I smiled back at her and walked in. Her room still hasn't changed which is no surprise to me. This room was the only thing that held some consistency in my life, "Please sit down so we can get started. We have lots to talk about today." she said, gesturing to the small leather chair that I always sat in. I sat down in the chair, waiting for her to sit across from me.

Dr. Gil grabbed her notebook and pen and sat down opposite me in another leather chair. She crossed her legs, like she always did and looked at me with the same smile as always, "How are you, Julina?" she asked, flipping through a few pages before she stopped, probably finding my name.

I shrugged, "I'm okay I guess."

She nodded, "Well, after today, I hope you feel more than just okay." she said softly. I gave her a small smile and nod. I don't know what she has planned for today, but I never feel okay leaving her room. I normally feel in a worse mood when I leave than when I come in.

Dr. Gil cleared her throat and pulled her glasses off her head, where they were previously placed, "So Julina, it says here that we left off last month with talking about your father."

"I don't really want to talk about him today." I stated, quickly cutting her off.

She nodded, looking up at me, "I know and we aren't going to. Today, I want to talk about how everything has been since the last time I saw you. How is college so far? Do you like it?" she asked, seeming very interested in the topic.

I nodded, "Yeah, I actually like it a lot. I met a few new friends." I told her.

She smiled, "That's good! I'm really glad to hear that you're getting out there and meeting new people. How was your first day?" she asked.

"It was really easy actually. A lot easier than I thought."

She nodded, "So I take it you're adjusting well to your new school?" she asked.

I shrugged slightly and nodded, "For the most part yeah."

She smiled, "Good." she said, writing down something then looking back up at me, "Now, let's go back to your new friends. Tell me about them."

I brush my hair behind my ear, "Well, the first person I met was Analeigh. She is what you would call a very bubbly person. She's someone who always tries to stay upbeat even if things are crumbling down around her feet. She's been acting kind of weird around me lately though and I can't figure out why." I admitted.

Dr. Gil furrowed her eyebrows, "Have you talked to her about it at all?" she asked and I just shook my head.

She nodded, "She'll come to you, Julina. If it's something that is bothering her, she will come to you." Dr. Gil reassured me as she wrote down some more notes in her notebook.
