"Hey may I help you with that?" a girl on her nerdy glasses asked as Den waited for the traffic light to turn green to cross the street.

She holds a grocecry bag while the other two rests at her feet. Upon further thinking if its a rightful thing to agree for the, rather generous, offer, she then nodded her head silently.

The taller girl then smiled charmingly and easily put the grocery bags in her arms.

Den watched, being impressed by her flexing arms as she did so.

"And they say chivalry is dead." she murmured which did not fail to be heard by the taller girl who only chuckled at that.

"Where are you headed, miss?" the stranger glanced at her, unbothered by the weight on her arms.

Den thought, theres no harm in telling her where cause she looked trustworthy on her appearnce. No offense, its just better to be safe than sorry, no matter how charming the person is.

"Just at the apartment complex near the 3rd street from here." she answered making the stranger smile.

See? Charming. She thought, biting her lip as to not embarass herself.

"I happen to be in the same area. Which surprise me why I haven't seen you around?" she said rather ecstatic, simply knowing that she'll get to know a little bit more about the other girl.

"That's because I stay on a dormitory. I only come here once in awhile."

"Oh youre in college then? What university do you go? I'm in UST studying arts. And I'm living with my brother here." she beamed.

"Yes, I'm in ateneo for biology. Well the apartment was from my father, he said if ever I want some break or needing some solitude I can go there and also for family visits since our province is quite far and I can't just always travel."

"Hmm, that sounds nice. I wish I can have a family who can stop over the house though even once in awhile. It must be really fun."

Now, den is intrigued. What did she mean by that?

But befoee she could asked, the traffic light goes green and they're off to cross the street with many other people minding their own business. And then a kid, who looked like around her brother's age without a supervision of an adult or even a guardian and a man on her crutches caught her attention, making the doctor in her arise.

And then she thought, Look at all this people, look at where the generosity and humbleness is, the humanity and the rationality. It makes her frown.

Causing the other girl, who obviously is looking at her, to frown too then looks at where she is looking. She then immediately understood.

"Psst! Bata!"

Den and the kid, who turned his head curiously, were both startled by the sudden call.

"Halika ka dito."

The stranger called the kid, who is still curious but manage to stumble out of the huge crowd and stalled back with them.

"Halika dito sa tabi ko, kumapit ka sa damit ko."

The boy, being a kid that he is, followed the instructions and they continue their way crossing the pedestrian lane. All the while, Den was too astonished to even speak so she let the other girl lead the way.

"Wala ka bang kasamang matanda at solo ka tumatawid? Ang liit liit mo tapos nakikipagsabayan ka sa mga tao." she asked in the kindest way as to not offend the kid.

Den smiled at that, who seems to be getting over her shock.

"Eh kaya nga po ako sumasabay para po hindi ako maiwan pagtawid" the boy countered innocently, scratching the back of his head.

"Aba, ang galing ng logic mong bata ka ah. Pero wag ka makikipag siksikan sa maraming tao, kahit kasi sila pwede kang matisod o madaganan or maipit."

"Eh kaya ko naman po sarili ko." the kid reasoned out in a very childlike way.

The stranger laughed at that and ask the boy where he is off to.

Den was too amused at the interaction to even let herself into the conversation so she simply cast a glance at the stranger whose wearing a very contagious smile.

She smiled to herself while listening to her company as they made their way to the other side of the road.

The world still has a chance after all thats happening, she thought.
