Chapter 14: Big News

Gumball's POV
Suddenly, the school bell rang twice. Ugh. That meant time for assembly. I walked into the hall with the rest of my class, groaning. Assembly sure was at the top of my list of things I didn't like. At the front of the hall stood our principal: Mr Woodland, flashing his pearly teeth, and waving his hand about as if he were royalty. Well, to be honest, he was. Just not super- important-owning-the-world royalty.

As soon as everyone has finished flooding in, Mr Woodland stepped up on stage and coughed, preparing to project his voice.
"Good morning, fellow students attending Royale high!"
"I am Mr Woodland, and for today's assembly I am here to mention an exciting & snazzy event!Alrighty. Raise your hands if you have any pet currently at home."
I raised my hand.
"Ahh, good! Raise your hands if you take good care of your pet!"
I once again raised my hand.
"Very good! Final question: raise your hands if you like animals."
I raised my hand for the final time.
"Wow! Excellent. That's at least 90% of this whole room. I assume those not raising their hands are either shy or dislike animals in general, ha-ha! This year at Royale High, we are giving each dorm their very own house-pet. One for the whole dorm."

Everyone squealed, even I. A huge grin swept across my face. This was awesome news! I was so excited! I always wanted something like this to come about!
"Ha-ha! Alright, alright. I know this is huge news, but please do calm down. Thank you."
"Anyway! The challenge: each dorm has to take excellent care of their pet. At the end of the year, each dorm will receive a percentage of how well you have taken care of your pet. Winners receive £1000 's each to spend on whatever their heart desires."
"Now, I'm going to call out each dorm and the dorm members have to come up and collect their pet. And then you leave assembly and return to your dorm rooms. Do not open the bag until you are in your dorm."
I started smiling. I wonder what pet our dorm was going to have!
"Dorm Cheerios..."
"Dorm Emerald..."
"Dorm Edwina..."
"Dorm Butterfly..."
"Dorm Chase..."

Dorm after dorm got called up. Each time, the butterflies in my tummy increased.

And then he said it.

"Dorm Blue!"
My eyes lit up. I looked next to Lulu who slowly stood up, clutching her chest. It was our dorm. Me and Lulu walked up to Mr Woodland. He gave us a cheesy smile and handed us our bag, "Do not open or look until you're in your dorm. Thank you, good evening ladies."

Lulu's POV
So it was finally home time. School had dragged. The first thing I wanted to do was get into my pyjamas and then sip some hot chocolate. Order in takeout. Have one of those nights with my girls.
