Chapter 34: Delicacy

Shaina's POV
Wow. I made it to the ball. It was bursting with colours, lights, people, everything. One thing in particular caught my attention: the food. It was heavenly: chocolate fountains with servings of fruit, stacks of pretty lil' cupcakes, pineapple on sticks, crêpes, creamy sticky toffee gateau, and much more. Heaven sure has some competition.

I never expected it to be this magical. This was my first time at a ball, and I certainly did not expect such immensely high standards.
"Woah," we gasped in unison.
"They really stepped up their game," Sky said, twirling around, "I could spend my life here."
Rose flapped her wings, flying up, "Look at the pretty lights!"
"A DJ booth?!" I exclaimed in complete shock, "That's so cool!"
"It may be too late to say this," Lulu began, "But, welcome to Royale High!"
"Indeed." Sky agreed, "Come, let's get some food, I'm starving!"

Hurriedly, all of us made our way to the food station. My taste buds exploded with anticipation.
I looked down at the food beyond me and frowned, "How much is the food?"
Rose shrugged, "Pretty sure it's free."
"Yup," Sky said, "The food is free!"
I smiled from ear to ear. Finally. Some free quality food.
"In that case," I began, "I'll take a pizza roll."

Slowly, I bit down into the roll of delicacy. The creamy cheese melted on my tongue, followed by the tangy tomato sauce and eventually the soft dough.
"Good?" Lulu asked, picking up a pizza roll.
I nodded, "Good!"
"I don't know about you," Gumball said, "But, I'm taking a big slice of toffee gateau. Enjoy!"
Me and Lulu each grabbed a cupcake, biting down into them whilst the others took some thick slices of gateau.

I ate and ate and ate...and ate until we could barely move.
"Bad idea," I murmured, whilst stuffing another pizza roll into my mouth.
"You're gonna make yourself sick, chill," Sky pulled a face in disgust, "I made that mistake a few years ago. Wasn't exactly a nice treat."
I stopped midway, regretting my decisions. Now I truly did feel as if I was about to vomit.
"She's turned green!" I heard Rose hiss, "Oh, no! Here comes the motherload!"
The music stopped.

And suddenly, I threw up on the dance floor.

Immediately, I was dragged away somewhere by Gumball and Rose. I didn't know where I was. I felt dazed.
"Shaina, we're in the ladies bathroom. We're gonna mop you up," I heard Rose say, "Gum, help me lift her up on the counters!"
I felt myself being lifted up onto a table, and I was suddenly attacked by wet wipes.
"Stop, stop!" I spluttered, pushing away the wipes, "Stop!"
"Okay, okay, calm down!" Gumball snapped, "We're wiping all the sick off you."
"Did anyone see me vomit?" I asked, still slightly dazed.
"No."
"Yes."

I threw my head in my hands, and started bawling. Why did this have to happen? Why? I planned for this night to go so well, and then this happens. Why, oh why me, of all people?
"Why are you crying, Shaina?" Gumball asked, stroking my hair, "It's okay."
"It's not!" I cried, "I'm so embarrassed. I've made a terrible first impression!"
"No, no!" Gumball exclaimed, "Lift up."
I looked down at Gumball, tears streaking my face. She smiled at me, and gently dabbed at my tears, "Wanna go back to our dorm?"
I nodded.

Suddenly, the ladies restroom doors swung open. In walked Viennetta, Vivian & Vanilla. From what I heard, they were the meanest girls in school.
"Aww, poor lickle baby!" Viennetta said, putting her hand on her hip, "Hahaha. Did mommy have to clean you up for being sicky?"
The three girls cackled, tossing their hair.
"Such a wuss," Viennetta continued, rolling her eyes.
"Go away, that was uncalled for!" Rose muttered, kicking her foot on the floor.
Viennetta cackled, walking closer to Shaina, "Wuss."

I felt my heart drop. I wanted to run out, but Vivian and Vanilla were blocking the doorway.
"You can't say anything, your name is an ice cream brand!" Gumball exploded, slapping a wipe in the bin, "Now, get out and leave."
"Don't your friends refer to you as gumball?" Vivian turned up her nose, looking us up and down.
"Yeah, my friends. We don't like you, so if you could leave we'd appreciate it!" Gumball snapped, steam practically coming out of her ears.
Vanilla went to open her mouth, but Viennetta silenced her, "Come on girls, we've got better places to be. Catch ya later, Gumball."
And they left.

"I'm sorry," I murmured, burying my face in my hands again.
The embarrassment stained me.
"No, no!" Rose said.
"Don't be sorry," Gumball whispered, "It's not your fault. Those three are toxic. Now, let's go to our dorm. We can spend the night there."
"I'm so down for Ben and Jerry's!" Rose cried.

To our shock, when we left the toilets, the three toxic girls were talking to Sky and Lulu. Wow.
"What on earth?" Gumball said, stomping over to them, "We meet again."
Viennetta turned around, and once again looked us up and down, "Oh, hi! We were just saying how cute Lulu and Sky look tonight. I'll definitely be voting one of you girls for Prom Queen!"
Lulu and Viennetta exchanged smiles.
"See you girls later!" Viennetta said, and catwalked off with her little snakes.

"What was that about?" Rose asked, frowning.
"Didn't we learn anything last year with Amber?!" Gumball cried.
"What's wrong with you guys?" Sky asked, "And are you okay, Shaina?"
I covered my face with my hair, "I'm going to my dorm."
"You're talking to Viennetta Turnés." Gumball said.
"And?.."
"And she just insulted us. She made fun of Shaina for crying!" Rose suddenly snapped, "How could you be so inconsiderate?"
"Inconsiderate? We didn't know!" Lulu barked, "We are not being blamed for this! You can go in a huffy puffy mood, but regardless it wasn't our fault."

"Stop, shut up!" I yelled, "We're besties, we shouldn't be arguing. Especially over Viennetta."
The girls awkwardly looked down at the floor, sighing.
"Sorry everyone," Gumball said, hitching her dress up slightly.
And shortly the others apologised too.
"We're gonna head back to our dorm," Gumball said to Lulu and Sky, "You guys should stay - we need some points for our dorm anyway. I'm counting on you to win. Bye!"

And then we made our way to our dorm.
