Chapter 29: Hostage

Shaina's POV
I had just finished my date with this wonderful boy I had met: Mattie. He was so sweet, and we even scheduled a second date! I was immensely falling for this guy. Mattie even walked me to my dorm! He's a real charmer.

When I got in, I expected to see the three girls lounging in the living room, with ice cream, biscuits and a movie playing. But, that didn't happen. As soon as I got in, I put my bag & flowers on the table, and shouted, "Guys? Helloooo? Anyone in here?"
No response.

I was baffled: confused, puzzled. Where were they? They had only popped out for Starbucks. Maybe they were asleep? Went to bed early? It was only 6pm. Nonetheless, I still checked. Nobody was in the house.

Worried, I grabbed my cellphone and dialled Lulu's number. Whilst it rang, I plopped myself on the couch, biting my finger. I was so anxious. They wouldn't have ditched me without telling me...would they? They might. What if they didn't like me? What if they moved form? Surely not without their belongings? Thoughts raced through my head.

Suddenly, my call was answered.
"Lulu!" I shouted, "Omg, are you okay? I'm worried sick!"
A harsh, raspy, male voice spoke, "We've taken your pretty little friends hostage. You want them back? Meet us, in an hour. Sharp. Or else."
The call ended.

I began shaking. The words sunk in. Hostage. Hostage. HOSTAGE! Where were they?! I had to do something! My heart thudded, repeatedly stomping. What did I do? What should I do? Who were those people? I had to report it. I had to get help. I had to gather a group together.

Rose's POV
I was so close to being dunked into the troll acid. I didn't want this to happen. My fairy wings weren't working. If they were, trust me I would fly away as fast as I could. In my dreams. The king of the gamerland was about to kill me. For pure entertainment. Why had nobody come to rescue me? Why?

The king stood up, and walked over to one of his guards, "Frank. Bring in the rest of 'em. Want 'em to say their goodbyes to this princess."
The rest of them?! Goodbyes?!
"Got it, boss!"

I was about to die. I knew it. I needed to fight. Bravely, I began kicking, booting, trying my hardest to get out.
Suddenly, the king turned around, and narrowed his eyebrows, "Oi' Orlo, turn her upside down and close to the acid!"
I felt myself being turned upside down, one inch away from being dissolved. I screamed and screamed.

The king laughed, clapping his hands, "Keep screaming, and you'll soon be acid!"
I gulped, and nodded. I felt uneasy.

Suddenly, Frank, and some other guards, wheeled in three covered bodies.
"OH MY GOSH!" I whispered, tearing up.
Dead bodies?! I felt so sick, and faint. I could not handle this.
"Shut up, pinkie!" The king shouted, "I'm warning ya' one last time. Oi' Frank, wheel em' over 'ere. Show the pinkie 'er new friends."
The guards wheeled over the bodies, and unwrapped them, revealing...MY FRIENDS! They looked so different!

"LULU?! GUM?! SKY?!" I 40-43:z
"Dunk her in," the king said.
I screamed louder, begging.
"Nah, don't! I'm just kidding, hahaha, comedy!" The king clapped, his hands laughing.
I was so scared. He was playing mind-games with me. Suddenly, Gumball woke up, spluttering and coughing.

"Gumball!" I shouted, "It's me - Rose!"
Gumball opened her eyes, and stared right at me. She smiled, "We found you!"
Suddenly, her eyes widened. Two guards firmly grabbed her and shoved her onto a plastic chair, strapping her in. They did the same with Lulu and Sky.

Gumball was shouting, kicking, fighting, "LET US GO!"
The guard strapped a thick line of silver tape over Gum's mouth, "Yeah, you shut up now. Oi' boss, whadda we do now?"
The king smirked, and stroked his robe, "Put them hanging above next to their friend. And one of you get me some popcorn, pronto."
The guards hurriedly did as told. I saw my friends being strung up next to me, and I hung there, helpless.

Lulu and Sky were knocked out. Until the machine started moving. We were being turned again and again, upside down and back around.
Lulu woke up screaming, doing the exact same movements as Gumball had done. This time, she screamed louder, pushing.
"LET ME GO OR ELSE!" she threatened.

The king shoved a handful of popcorn into his mouth, "Or else what? Gonna' get Flounda' on me."
Lulu narrowed her brows, "Not all of us are like Ariel."
"Haha, you're all the same. Red hair, romantic, bla bla. Cut the scene. Nobody cares. Now, answer my question."
The king walked right up to Lulu, standing underneath her. We all watched, helpless.
He grinned, "What. are. you. gonna. do?"
"This!" Lulu said, and head butted him.

I gasped. Why did she do that?
"LULU!" Gumball shouted, shuffling ferociously.
The king wiped his cheek. And then he cleared his throat, "Dunk em' in."
The guards worked up the machine again, this time turning us back upside down. We were lifted up, catching our breath for 3 seconds, and then we shot straight down, plunging into the acid.

My life flashed before my eyes. This was it. I was about to die. No more Royale High. No more family. No more us...

Until, all of a sudden, I realised I had survived. I was in the acid. Breathing. Moving. Living. I wiped the acid off of my eyes, and noticed Lulu, Gumball and Sky floating beside me. Somehow, we weren't connected to a chair. We were free.

"We're alive?" I said.
Instantly, Sky shushed me, covering my mouth, "Shh. They can't know we're alive."
Gumball frowned, "I'm confused. If this isn't acid...then what is it?"
Sky smirked, and pulled out a wand from her sleeve, "Let's just say I had a few tricks up my sleeve."

We all gasped.
"SHH!" Sky hissed.
"But?-"
"How?"
Grinning, Sky swam closer to us, "Remember how I turn into a ghost at night? I accidentally clapped my hands and I turned into a ghost. Nobody noticed because Lulu was too busy headbutting. When I was a ghost, I managed to get Rose's wand that they took and I made everything better."
Gumball gasped, "Smart. But, what is this thing we're swimming in?"
"Slime," Sky grinned, "But, we're trapped. We can't get out."

Suddenly, the sounds of gunshots firing entered the room.
"Oh my gosh!" I whispered, "Duck under the slime!"
Lulu cried, "It's too thick!"
Out of the blue, something heavy hit our bucket, and soon we came crashing onto the floor.

We landed with a heavy clash and thud. I slowly stood up, and saw...MR WOODLAND? He was shooting away with his wand...

I ran to Gum, Sky and Lulu, shaking them, "WAKE UP! MR WOODLAND IS HERE!"
The girls immediately got up. Suddenly, a pink-haired girl approached us, "It's me Shaina! Look, we need to get you out of here!"
I nodded. I was speechless.

Suddenly, Mr Woodland fell.
