Chapter 30: Nerf battle

Lulu's POV
"We have to fight them! The other teachers are fighting against those evil guards and the king!" Gumball exclaimed, "My backpack! I don't have it!"
Sky looked up, "The backpacks are on that shelf!"
Rose sighed, "For crying out loud, our teachers are struggling and you're concerned about backpacks?!"
Sky reached up to the shelf, chucking down the backpacks.
I tapped Rose on the shoulder, "You ever played Nerf wars?"
Rose nodded, hesitant.
"Give it your best!" I exclaimed, and chucked a nerf gun into her arms, "This is a real war."

We all loaded up our nerf guns, and began shooting our nerf bullets.

We shot everywhere, ducking. We were slime-covered badasses. James bond 2.0. And then it happened. We won. The firing stopped.

Immediately, I dropped my nerf gun and ran to Mr Woodland.
"Sir!" Gumball cried, "You've been shot!"
"No, I am okay! I can make it go away, look," Mr Woodland took his hand off of his leg, revealing no blood. No scar. Nothing.
Proving everything he said, Mr Woodland stood up and bowed.
A girl ran towards us, shouting, "Lou! Gum! Sky! It's me! Shaina!"
She ran towards us.

I stopped for a second. Was this really Shaina?
"I promise!" she shouted, "Trust me!"
"It is Shaina," Mr Woodland said, "I am rather proud of you, my students! But, let us hurry and get out of here before we are kidnapped again."
He clapped his hands, and suddenly I felt myself drifting away into a cloud of blue smoke.

I woke up, surrounded by my friends. Yawning, I rubbed my eyes and slowly stood up.
"You're all awake?" I asked, confused.
"You've been knocked out for a solid 30 minutes," Gumball said, "Sky's still asleep. Don't wake her."
I nodded, swivelling my eyes around the room, "How are the teachers?"
"They're good," Rose said, "The problem is... We've got tons of Royale High journalists & reporters stalking us!"

I gulped, "So, I'm guessing everybody knows about what happened..?"
Shaina nodded, jumping up from the sofa, "Sounds about right. I'm gonna' make myself a cup of hot chocolate, anyone want some?"
I shook my head, "No, I'm okay, thanks."
Rose raised her hand, "With cream please!"
"Stir me some tea, will you?" Gumball asked, squashing up beside Rose on the couch, "Come sit. We've got a lot to do tomorrow."

Dazed still, I sat beside my two best friends, "Tomorrow?"
"We have to go to the royale high design department and see if they'll let us borrow dresses!" Gumball exclaimed, propping her legs on the table, "Haven't you heard?"
I shook my head.
Gumball nodded, "Tomorrow is kinda um...prom!"

I clenched my eyes, shocked.
"Repeat that again please?"
Laughing, Gumball tossed her hair, "We have prom tomorrow."
I blinked my eyes multiple times. It took a moment to sink in.
"What if we can't borrow the dresses?" I asked.
"Guess we'll have to design our own..." Rose murmured, "Shaina! You almost done with the chocolate? I'm ravenous!"
"Yeah, its coming," Shaina called, chucking a spoon in the sink, "On its way!"

Shaina came over to us, and handed Rose her drink, "One hot chocolate with double whipped cream and chocolate flakes comin' right up! Enjoy."
Rose's eyes lit up. Eagerly, she licked her lips and grabbed the mug, "Thank you so much!"
"So.." I gulped, "Jewels? Is he okay?"

Rose took a long sip of chocolate, and then opened up her pocket, revealing the baby dragon, "Safe and sound."
I smiled. Jewels was the cutest little dragon I had ever seen.
"It's almost midnight. Suppose we get some sleep?" Gumball said, tapping her watch.
"I've got an idea!" I exclaimed, "Let's camp out in here tonight."

The coffee table had been moved, and the sofas had been pushed back. We put two mattresses on the floor, for us all to share, completed with tons of cushions and blankets. The lights were dimmed - turned off. The only light shining was the TV screen, playing Gotham. Just like old times.
