Leigh opened the door of the car to get to school that morning and then stepped out of her mum's car.

"Be sure that you are right there when I come to pick you up okay? If you're not then we're going to have trouble."

"Yes Mum. I'll do that." Leigh told her. She waved at her as she drove off then sighed. At least she said something. Her mother had been being very distant and quiet and Leigh did not know why. She was afraid. What if she's slowly going insane and one day she'll try to kill me!? She did not put anything passed these people at all.

"Morning Leigh-Anne!" Some kids said as they walked into the school happily.

Leigh smiled at them and waved. "Morning! Did you enjoy the subs yesterday?"

"They were surprisingly yummy." Said one of the boys in the group. They laughed with her then walked through the gate.

"It's going to be a once a month event!" Leigh called out. She breathed. The invitations had been delivered to her house this morning and she had answered the door to the mail man since her mother had said 'that's for you' when the knock was heard. I don't know, I feel really guilty about this now. She walked up to the gate and stopped. She really wanted to deliver Jesy's invite to her right now like she had planned but now she felt uncomfortable within herself.

"Everything alright Leigh-Anne?"

Leigh turned and saw the security guard looking at her in concern. She usually said good morning to him in the morning but she had forgotten today. She smiled. "Good morning Security Dave. Yes, everything is fine. I was just worried about an assignment that I've still got to do is all." She waved and then walked away, into the gate.

She could feel the omelette that she had made in her throat. Why am I so nervous? She decided to retreat to the back of the school to think things through. This was all so very complicated.

As she walked looking at her feet she kept thinking. I'd really like a sleepover. I like those sort of things. Plus, I'd be helping Jade but at the same time Mum seems so upset because of it. I really don't know what to do to make her stop disliking me. She's so . . .

"Hey, there she is. Now how did I know that you'd come over here this morning?" Jesy came walking towards her from the back of the school calmly.

Leigh-Anne looked up and gasped at what she saw. She ran towards Jesy and hugged her. "Jesy!"

Jesy lifted her up and spun her around. "Leigh!" She put her down then grinned. "How are you- wait before I get into that." She put on a glum look. The night before, she had been thinking of how to apologize. Now she was ready. The taste of 'awkward' was out of her mouth. "I'm really sorry about how I acted towards your mum on Friday. I was just . . . I was like a reality TV show wife."

Leigh-Anne laughed.

"I don't know, it just came out and when it started I couldn't stop. She's not so bad. Just stressed out and unaware that she should keep her problems away from her kids." Jesy pouted and held Leigh's hands. "Do you forgive me?"

Leigh-Anne breathed out. "Well . . . of course!" She kissed Jesy's cheek. "You should never say that to anyone though. If you hadn't then my mum wouldn't have a problem with you coming to my sleepover." She looked sadly at the ground.

"What?" Jesy had not heard of this. You miss a weekend and a Monday . . .

Leigh-Anne brought her bag to her front and took the invites out. "Look! My mum said that . . ." She choked on her words. "I-I'll be spending the weekend with my dad so I asked him if I could have a sleepover since my friend Jade went and told everyone that I was and now me and Lilly are feuding and he said yes. Isn't he the nicest?"
