5 - Promise

Vince's POV

We didn't went home right away. Alam ko naman na kailangan ng distraction ni Veera ngayon. She needs to let it all out.

"Fuck you, Liam! I hate you, you asshole!" Veera shouted. Dito ko siya dinala sa roof top ng The Villamor Hotel para isigaw lahat ng sama ng loob niya.

This is what we usually do lessen the heaviness in our chests. At least dito no one will interrupt us at syempre, wala rin kaming mai-istorbo.

"Vee, dito ka nga. Baka mahulog ka diyan." Saway ko sa kanya. Medyo nakainom pa naman na kami kaya mahirap na.

Naupo naman siya sa tabi ko before she opened another can of iced-cold beer. Uminom siya ng konti before she ranted again.

"Tangina talaga nung lalaking 'yon! Nakipag-break sa akin just because he doesn't want to commit in a long distance relationship?!" Kung kanina she can't stop crying ngayon naman, galit na galit. "Where's his balls, huh?! Bakit?! Tingin niya ba hindi namin kaya?! Gago eh!"

I sighed. "Hayaan mo na 'yung gagong 'yon, Vee. He didn't know what he had lost. Maswerte na nga siya sa'yo kasi willing kang pumasok sa LDR. Other girls won't have the same decision."

Tiningnan niya ako na parang hindi siya naniniwala sa akin. But this time, she got a small smile in her lips. "Well, thank you. I really like it 'pag binobola mo ako."

"Tanga! That's the truth." I countered. "Tsaka anong klaseng lalaki siya? He'll break your heart on the day of your graduation pa?! On the day your supposed to be happy? Gago pala 'yon eh."

"Gago talaga." She said tsaka uminom ulit. I did the same bago ko tinuloy ang sinasabi ko.

"I swear, Vee. If I was there earlier at naabutan ko siya, I'll beat the hell out of him."

I stiffened nang sinandal niya ang ulo niya sa balikat ko. "I know that you'll do it."

I tilt my head para humarap sa kanya then I inhaled the scent of her hair. Mabango. Amoy Veera. I think that's the best and only way to describe her scent.

"Thank you, Kuya Vince. I don't know kung anong mangyayari sa akin 'pag wala ka." She lifted my right arm para i-akbay 'yon sa sarili niya then she put one of her arms around me. "I don't want to let these all out to my girls right now. I don't want to ruin their happiness at idamay pa sila sa problema ko ngayon."

I pulled her closer to me and held her tighter. "No problem, Vee. Always remember na nandito ako lagi to listen to your never ending rants about the world."

"Sana forever tayong ganito, Kuya." Hindi ko nakikita ang mukha niya ngayon but I know that she's smiling. "Will you stay in my life forever, Kuya Vince?"

Natigilan ako when I heard that.

Forever. . .

"Of course, I will, Vee. Kahit hindi mo hilingin, I'll forever be by your side." I promised her.

"Promise ha? We'll be friends forever?" She raised pinky finger. This is what we always do whenever we make promises to each other.

Friends. . . Just friends. . .

"Promise, Vee." I raised my pinky finger too and sealed my promise.

Humiwalay siya ng yakap sa akin.

Then he kissed my cheeks.

This is not the first time that she did this pero everytime na ginagawa niya 'yon, hindi pa rin nagbabago ang nararamdaman ko.

"I love you, Kuya Vince." She said while looking directly into my eyes. She still looks sad pero kita ko sa mukha niya na kahit paano, napa-saya ko siya.
