33 - I'm Happy That I Make Him Happy

Veera's POV

"My parents are home." Kwento ko kay KD while we're having lunch. Hindi sumabay sa amin si Moira. Ewan ko ba kung saan nagpunta 'yun.

KD looked puzzled. "Uhm, where did they go?" He asked anyways.

"Oh, I forgot na hindi pa pala kayo magkakilala. I'm sorry." I apologized.

I'm sure Kuya Vince will be happy 'pag nalaman niyang nakauwi na ang ninong at ninang niya.

Ugh. Kuya Vince. I just remembered na hindi nga pala kami okay ngayon.

"It's okay." He said and smiled. Natahimik kami for a few minutes. He's the one who broke the silence. "What are they like, Vee? Your parents?"

I smiled. "Sobrang ka-close ko sila. Mas ka-close ko si Tatay. Then 'yung twin sister ko, si Veronica, mas close kay Nanay."

"You have a twin sister?" He asked again.

Napatungo ako. I just realized that hindi pa pala talaga namin kakilala ni KD ang isa't isa. Not like Kuya Vince who knows me since we were kids.

Damn it, Vee! Why do you keep on comparing?!

"U-Uh yeah, she's working here, too. Sa accounting department." Kwento ko.

"Sobrang kamukha mo ba siya?" He asked politely and with a smile, it seems like he's trying to make our conversation lighter and less awkward.

"Yes. Nung high school, people always get confused. They really don't know who's who kaya nung college, Veronica dyed her hair."

Tumango-tango siya. "Dalawa lang kayo?"

"Apat kaming magkakapatid. Parehong kambal."

"Wait, really?" He seemed so amazed sa kwento ko. "Wow! That's so cute!"

"People say that a lot." I agreed.

"Going back to your parents, sobrang ka-close mo talaga sila?" Tanong niya ulit.

"Yes. Si Nanay sobrang sweet, hindi lang showy pero sobrang kasundo niya si Veronica kasi pareho silang maarte." I playfully rolled my eyes kaya natawa si KD. "But in a good way naman." I added.

"Tapos si Tatay naman sobrang ka-close ko kasi tuwang-tuwa daw siya sa akin nung bata ako kasi ang likot ko daw when we were younger." Kwento ko pa and that brought a smile to his face.

"You seem to have a great family, Vee." He commented still wearing his smile. And I don't know kung totoo 'yung nakikita ko but his eyes seem to be wet with suppressed tears. "Hindi ko pa sila nakikilala and yet I feel like I'm admiring them already."

My heart ached for KD. I know that he admires my family kasi ganon ang pamilyang gusto niya.

"I hope I have a family like yours, Vee." He said, pain was evident in his face. "Don't get me wrong, I love my family. I just wish that we're as happy and as intact as yours."

I reached for his hand and squeezed it, not knowing what I can do to make him feel better.

"Sorry, Vee, I'm being melodramatic again." He chuckled but he's still wearing a pained expression. "I want you to meet my family, Vee, so they can see what a beautiful person you are. So they can see why you're so special to me." He intertwined his fingers with mine as he tell me these things.

"But, Vee, my family is kinda fucked up. Kaya nahihiya akong iharap sila sa'yo. I love them but. . ." He added but he trailed off.

Kahit naman hindi niya matapos ang sasabihin niya, I already understood what he meant.

"KD, if they're important to the guy I like," I said and tighten my grip in his hand. "Then I have to meet them. You're special to me, too. And I think I have to thank your parents for bringing a special guy like you in this world."

Finally, ngumiti na siya. A genuine one.

"Thank you, Vee. For always making me better." He put his face on my palms. "For always making me happy whenever my world seems blue."

I returned his smile.

I'm happy that I make him happy.

I went home right away after work. I'm feel exhausted, halos hindi na nga ako makalakad dahil lambot na lambot ako.

Ang dami ko kasing naiwang work when I called in sick kaya nag-over time ako ngayon para matapos lahat 'yon.

Gusto pa nga akong ihatid ni KD but I declined. Alam kong napagod din kasi siya because he helped me sa lahat ng naiwan kong trabaho and he also have a lot of work left dahil nag-absent din siya kaya halos nag-triple ang work niya.

The aroma of different Italian herbs greeted me pagpasok ko sa bahay. Dumiretso ako sa kitchen and there I saw Nanay na kakatapos lang magluto.

Veronica's family is also here. Si Vane at Verne naman busy laruin si Vrent

"'Ta Vee!" I heard Vrent called when he saw me at tumakbo sa akin.

"Hi, Vrent!" I welcomed him with open arms and lifted him. "Oh my, god! You're getting heavier na, baby." I kissed his chubby cheek and that made him laugh.

"Hi, Vee." Veronica greeted and kissed me on my cheek. Kuya Brian did the same. "You're late ah." Veronica commented.

"I got loads of work eh." Sabi ko na lang. "Bakit pala kayo nandito?"

She raised her eye brow. "Ayaw mo?"

"Slight?" I teased. Inirapan niya lang ako.

Lumapit ako kay Nanay. "'Nay, anong meron? Bakit ang sarap ng dinner? Porke't nandito sila Veronica?"

Natawa naman si Nanay sa akin. "No, Vee, ikaw talaga. Despedida ng Tito Keith mo ngayon." She explained. "Biglaan din. Dapat kasi next pa nga ang alis niya but he decided na bukas na daw siya aalis."

Vrent started putting my hair into his mouth pero hindi ko siya masaway. Hindi ako makagalaw dahil sa narinig ko. That means that Kuya Vince will be here.

I said hurtful words to him the last time we talked. And I'm sure that I'm not yet ready na makita siya ulit.

"Veera, what's wrong?" I heard Veronica asked when she noticed my discomfort. Buti na lang Nanay was out of the earshot.

I decided to tell her the truth. "Veronica, kasi we fought. . ."

"And you haven't make amends, yet?" She asked. "Vee, ang tagal na ng away niyo ah."

"Yes. And the last time we tried to talk, it just got worse." Kwento ko sa kanya.

She shook her head. "This is so not you. Ano bang nangyayari sa inyo ni Kuya Vince? What made you fight like this?"

Hindi na ako nakasagot dahil hindi ko rin naman alam ang isasagot ko. I cannot tell Veronica that it's about KD because she will ask about him, baka malaman niya pa lahat ng ginawa ko.

I just gave her a shrug and it earned me a sigh from her.

Will Kuya Vince be mad at me?

Well, I guess I deserve that.
