Vince's POV
F L A S H B A C K
Senior high school is not as exciting and enjoying as junior high school. Dati kasi, kahit puro kalokohan kami minsan, pumapasa kami. But when you're in SHS, kailangan talagang may effort and our teachers said that studying would be more difficult in college.
Which is true. Second year pa lang ako pero parang sobrang hirap na ako sa dami ng demands ng mga professors ko.
"Kuyaaaa!" My thoughts were interrupted when I heard Veera's voice. "Are you okay? Ito na coffee mo."
We're here sa Starbucks. Veera invited me to go out para daw makapag-bonding kami. Nami-miss niya daw kasi ako.
"Kuya, okay ka lang talaga? You look tired. Sana pala pumunta na lang ako sa bahay niyo para hindi ka na napagod." Kitang-kita ko naman na nag-aalala siya sa akin.
"It's okay, Vee. Besides, minsan na nga lang tayo magkasama eh. Tsaka isa pa, na-relax naman ako while we're together and that's what I really needed right now." I assured her.
College na rin si Vee ngayon and she's still studying in Johnston while me, I enrolled in Brickwood just like what we planned.
Sobra akong stressed sa studies ko. Everyone's competetive and aiming for good grades. Syempre, hindi ako pwedeng magpatalo. At sa totoo lang, si Veera lang ang kailangan ko to relieve my stress. Siya ang break ko. I feel rested and happier when I'm with her.
"Kumusta naman ang college, Vee? I hope you're less childish now. I won't be there para punasan ang uhog mo whenever you get frustrated with your studies." I joked. I got an eye roll from her.
"Well, you were right when you said na may makikilala pa akong ibang friends 'pag nag-college ako." Kwento niya.
'Yun kasi ang sinabi ko sa kanya when I graduated from SHS. Iniyakan na naman niya kasi ako but this time, kailangan ko na talagang umalis ng Johnston.
"But you were wrong when you said na mahirap mag-college." She said proudly.
Napa-taas naman ang kilay ko. "Really, huh? Baka nasasabi mo lang 'yan kasi first year ka pa lang, Vee."
"I don't think so." She shrugged. "Mas interesado nga akong mag-aral ngayon kesa nung high school eh."
"Good for you, then. College is like hell to me." I ranted. Tinawanan niya naman ako.
"Bumalik ka na kasi ng Johnston, Kuya. Tingnan mo ako, fresh na fresh."
I chuckled. "I know that trick, Vee. That won't work with me. Baka mapagalitan na'ko ni Dad 'pag sinabi ko sa kanyang babalik ako ng Johnston."
"Edi bahala ka. Nakaka-pangit ang stress." Natatawang sabi niya. If she only knew kung gaano ko ka-gustong bumalik sa Johnston para mas madalas ko siyang makasama.
"You mentioned that you met new friends?" I asked to change the topic. "Make sure na hindi sila sing tamad mo, Vee, ah. Mahirap 'yan. Pare-pareho kayong babagsak." I said and let out a chuckle.
Again I got an eye roll from her before she laughed. "Grabe ka talaga, Kuya! Well, we're all lazy pero we force each other to attend the class kahit tamad na tamad na kami so I guess that's fine?"
Now, it's my turn to laugh. Minsan talaga baliw 'to si Vee and it seems like her new friends are as crazy as her.
"What are their names again?" Tanong ko sa kanya.
"Joycie and Tasya." She answered happily. "And did I already told you about this guy?"
My smile suddenly vanished when she said the word 'guy'. "Who's guy, Vee? Is someone courting you?"
