When I wake, I know it's early. The light is limited and there's still a slight tint to the colour streaming through the lone window above my bed. I would guess maybe five or six in the morning most likely. I hope today is my last day in this god forsaken prison that they call a hospital. I haven't run or fought in half a week and my muscles yearn for activity and exercise, to be exerted and pushed to the limits.

A nurse brings me a breakfast, but it looks completely unappetizing at this point so I place it on the desk and leave it to be collected later. They couldn't force me to eat. I wanted to get changed into some actual clothes but Francine informed me that Sierra had asked to keep my in my gown just in case she wanted to do other tests. It didn't surprise me in the least but I still had some hope that they would let me wear something of decency. Apparently not.

I wait around for what feels like an age when a different nurse comes to my door. She knocks lightly before asking for my name as confirmation. He glances at the clip board and nods. She tells me to follow her and I slide out of my bed and behind her. She gives me a reassuring smile and I try to muster a return smile.

We were on the first floor of the basement. We had to go all the way up to the top floor above ground. We had plenty of elevators so it didn't bother me so much. But with everyone busy and always needing to get to places as fast as they can, it took a while to even gain access to an elevator.

After a while, one is finally available and we step on. I have thing sandal on that feel flimsy and not in the slightest bit protective. We had about thirty floors to climb. One by one, everyone got off and soon there was only the nurse, myself and a smart looking ma with big ears. He had a permanent frown and I dare not look at him as we climbed the floors.

He got off at the same floor as us and we all stepped out into the busy hallway. I stick begins for a second. Suddenly, the man trips on the nurses legs as he tries to force his way past her in the hallway. He scrambles up and faces her with an even more spiteful expression. "Bitch! How dare you trip me!" He exclaims, his ego soaring.

"Oh- I uhm I'm sorry sir, I didn't mean-" the nurses is stuttering through her words before the man cuts in again.

"Who is your boss? Who are you here for?" He demands with venom in his voice.

The nurse shakes her head in fright and mumbles Sierra's name. The man gives a low chuckle and grabs the nurses elbow, he begins towing her towards the far end of the hallway. By now, a big crowd has gathered to see what the commotion is about. I shake my head at them as I pass. "Fuck off! Go do your work!" I shout at them in anger.

There are several gasps among them but the crowd begins to disperse as people slink off to their offices and on their errands. I follow closely behind the man and the nurse who was now whimpering. As we get closer the man becomes more violent, even from here I can see his nails digging into her arm. It looked like it hurt.

We were approaching the end door which I assumed was where Sierra was. "Stop! Let go of her! You're hurting her!" I shout. The man turns around to look for the source. He sees me and a snarl escapes his mouth.

"You do not shout at a Commander! You will face consequences also, what are you going to do anyway little girl?" He mocks. I'd always been small for my age but I made up with my strength.

"Get off of her." I demand. The man was slender and obviously was using a great deal of his strength by keeping the nurse in his grip.

"You listen here!" He pulls out a knife and points it directly at me. I take a cautionary step back as the weapon is shoved in my face. He release the nurse and she jumps forward.

"No!" She screams at the top of her lungs.

He turns to her and lunges. I jump and hit him in the knee, there's a sickening crunch as I break his kneecap. He cries out in pain and falls to the floor, dropping the knife in the process, centimetres from the woman's face. I let out a deep breath as I give the nurse a reassuring smile. She looks as if she's going to burst into tears.
