I roll over and throw my hand out silence my alarm clock, but as my hand shoots out and searches blindly for the wretched device, my hand finds only wires and boxes. I lift my head from my pillow and regard the area which was definetely not my bed. White walls, white ceiling, white floor, I roll my eyes and fall back into my bed. The infirmary. Again.

But how? I could've sworn I was a goner. Surely whatever was wrong with me to cause that much pain would've killed me by now. Surely. I shake my head as if to rid myself of the confusing and unanswered questions and bury myself in the thin covers and pillows.

I was tired. I knew that much. And I also ached all over, every movement was a crime against my body, my joints rebelling against each one. I sigh and try to sit as still as possible. I was alive...

Sort of?

* * *

I don't know how long I say staring at the ceiling. Minutes, Hours? Maybe I fell asleep at one point, but I know the sound of the door clicking open yanked me from any sleep that had fogged my mind a second before.

I immediately look to see the intruder. Sierra. She gives me another smile that, for anyone else, would seem sincere and true. But i knew it wasn't. The smile didn't reach her eyes, both brown orbs of coldness and calculation. She was thinking and analysing, evaluating options and their consequences. I knew that look anywhere.

But why was she using that stare with me? Sure, I was a bit of a mystery on the medical front but it was like I was an enemy, an opponent that needed to be beaten. I shift uncomfortably under her unwavering gaze.

Finally she opens her mouth to speak. "Juliet..." She says.

"Sierra...?" I say in a more questioning tone. She was the doctor, why was talking like she expected something from me? I only knew as much as she told me.

As if hearing my thoughts, she seems to snap out of whatever she was thinking and gives me another smile. Her face is business like and ready for whatever was coming her way. She rounds the bed and sits down in a chair next to me. It was most likely very uncomfortable but she doesn't show any sign of discomfort.

"Right. Now. You're in part of my lab right now, but it's only temporary." She tells.

I take a look around and sure enough the was another door of to the side that I assume lead to the rest of her lab and office.

She continues, not waiting for an reply. "We found you unconscious in a hallway downstairs, very early this morning. Could you tell me what happened?" She asks softly.

I shake my head and try to think.

What did happen?

"I... I'm not sure... I woke up. I remember pain and panic and then darkness. I was trying to go somewhere." I tell her hesitantly.

She nods slowly. "I see. Do you know where you were going?" She asks.

I shrug. "I assume to you or something. I just knew I needed someone who knew what they were doing. Then... I knew there was no way I'd make it. I... gave up." I say, surprised. "I gave up." I repeat, as if to confirm.

I gave up?

I never give up.

She nods again. "Its okay. By that point your body way most likely shutting down it's a natural human instinct to allow rest and recovery." She assures me.

I give a slight nod.

"Now. You're here because I have developed some medicine that I believe may help you. The good news is the test results have come back and you're fine." She says as though it's meant to cheer me up.
