I got home at quarter past nine.

It was hard to remember how to get home as I had to catch a bus but it took me a while to figure out which bus went where and which one I had to take.

It was a relatively short walk from the bus stop back to Aiden's house as the bus routes didn't go into the residential part of town and only went as far as a busy road about ten minutes away.

I eventually got to the right street and it I noticed how nice it was to be walking through streets instead of through grey hallways to get home. I liked the smell of fresh air and my skin was much less pale than it had been while I was in the facility.

The girls and myself were barely ever allowed outside which meant that most of us had to take some sort of supplement. I had taken Vitamin D pills for a while, when I was a child due to not being out enough. But, when I had started to sneak outside every so often to get away from everything for a few hours, I was able to stop taking them.

My skin was more tan and darker and even some of my old freckles had started to come through again. I had always wanted darker skin and it made my eyes pop more which made it even better.

I realise just as I got to the front garden of Aiden's house that I did not have a key or any other means of letting myself in. Luckily, the lights were on in nearly every room in the house by the looks of it which meant Aiden was most likely still awake.

I get to the door and knock. Aiden appears surprisingly quickly.

"Where were you?" He asks.

I shrugged my shoulders. "I had a shift at work." I tell him.

"You could've told me."

"Why?" I ask, slightly confused.

"Because... because you just should've told me." He replies.

I shrug. "Well, okay. I am working tomorrow and Friday and Saturday and Sunday." I tell him.

He nods and steps aside so that I can walk in.

"I made food. Leftovers are in the oven, it's just rice and peas and stuff if you want some." He suggests.

"Thanks."

"I'm going to bed in minute." He tells me.

I nod before realising that there was only one bedroom in the house and we both ended to sleep somewhere if I was going to stay here.

"Where should I sleep?" I ask in a shy tone.

"Oh, I'll be sleeping in the other bedroom. You'll sleep where you slept before."

"Where?" I ask, suddenly very confused.

"There." He says, pointing to a door on the far side of the room, one I had not noticed before. "It was my dad's bedroom. I moved most of my stuff in there already and your stuff is already in there." He says.

I nod. "Thank you, Aiden."

He nods and gives me a small smile. I had noticed early on that that was something that Aiden did rarely; smile.

I make my way over to the kitchen and fix myself a bowl before filling it with the food that Aiden had mentioned from the oven. It was nice and much better than the stuff that I had eaten for most of my life.

Aiden disappears into his bedroom and he doesn't come back out. After I've finished my food I wash up the cutlery I used as well as a few things that were lying around before returning them to their respective places.

It was ten thirty already and I go into the bedroom and put my phone on charge before fetching a set of more comfortable clothes as well as towel and take them into the bathroom for me.
