"Phew!" Aiden grabs my hand, "maybe we wait a little while before we do that again," he pants, with a chuckle.

I squeeze his hand and laugh too.

"I'm not saying it wasn't fun. You need to heal up, though," he explains.

I nod, "Okay, fine, yeah, it was a bit painful," I admit.

"It's alright, we're in no rush, I promise. It's just you and me, we won't do anything if you don't want to."

I nod and hug him close to me. It was getting late now, the moon was high in the sky and it had started to get really cold, even beneath the blanket, "how about we go inside and get some sleep?" I suggest.

Aiden nods and sits back up ,"Yeah, I'm pretty sure the backseats fold backwards, we can sleep on that. It'll be more comfortable than sleeping in the front seats."

Aiden helps me down off of the car with a grunt and starts to mess with the mechanisms in the backseat to get them to go down, there is some grunts of effort before a loud bang as the seats fall into the trunk. Aiden materialises from the car in triumph, "we have a bed to sleep in," he announces with pride.

I smile and climb into the car slowly, careful as I lay down. I couldn't afford to tear my stitches again. I wouldn't make it through the night if I did. Aiden gets some pillows from the back and climbs in next to me before closing the doors, turning the lights off and locking the car up from the inside.

He pushes a pillow beneath my head before placing one underneath his, he wraps his arms loosely around my waist and hugs me close before saying goodnight and settling in for the night.

It takes a little while to sleep as I stare up at the ceiling of the car. But even then, as I sat there, I realised I felt safe, secure. I realised that I felt like I was home, because Aiden was my home.

The next day was a big one. We were going to ditch the car, take all our worldly belongings with us and venture into Yellowstone. I knew it could be dangerous with bison and whatnot, but I assume it had to be better than driving from town to town, unsure if we'll make it out.

I woke early in the morning, while the sun was rising, to notice my wound was healing nicely. Very nicely. It was still sore and still fragile, but it hurt much less and was obviously better. This reassured me greatly as I was quite concerned about the possibility of my wound becoming infected or of the stitches tearing again while we were in the middle of nowhere.

The more healed it became, the less chance of it doing either.

We were only a couple hours away from the National Park and we take our time on the road and stop to get some breakfast before we have to live on the camping food Aiden had bought the day before.

Aiden and I had reached a state of equilibrium. For those few hours that we drove along, it felt as if nothing in the world could go wrong, no one would know where we were. Everyone would give up eventually. We'd be okay.
