I already knew the other man had hit the floor, even from such a distance away that was undeniable. But he was still attached to the rope at the bottom.

"We can't hold you all- cut the, cut the rope! Cut it!" I scream with grunts of pain as my chest is tugged towards the jagged rocks of the cliff edge.

The two climbers don't reply but I hear a knife against rope as someone desperately knaws at it with their blade. Finally, I hear the rope fall and we sit with two people sitting on the end of the rope, awaiting death.

"We have to pull them up!" Aiden calls from behind me.

"I- I know!" I grunt.

Aiden didn't seem to know what to do but tug uselessly at the rope, the two climbers probably had a combined eight of nearly a hundred and fifty kilograms.

I couldn't let them die, though. Their lives rested in our hands. With something inside of me switching on, I grab the rope with both hands and pull as hard as I possibly can, harder and harder with everything I have.

Slowly, painstakingly slowly, the pile of role behind us increases and with every tug and grunt the people get closer and closer towards us. I could make out the man's face properly now, with extreme detail.

When I am sure I can lift them, I call to Aiden to use the remaining rope to tie around a nearby tree or something reliable.

Surprisingly, he doesn't not question me and finds the nearest thing to tie it around as I pull at the rope as best as I can, my palms scream in pain, and all of my muscles reject my orders to move, to keep working.

What feels like an age later, the man pulls himself up onto the grass, collapsing onto the floor. Suddenly, the weight on the role seems to half, I feel my muscles relax but stop them, the woman was still hanging there.

I could hear her crying, clutching at the rope for some sort of reassurance of safety as she is lifted higher and higher, away from the danger and her death.

The woman is in complete shock as I lift her and I am forced to pull her over the side as she seems unable to move anything other than her gaze. She sits frozen in place, shivering and whimpering in a daze.

From behind me, I hear Aiden breaking up a fight between the two men and all of my attempts at trying to gain the woman's attention seem to fail.

Remembering the man at the bottom, possibly alive. I sigh and stand up on stiff, exhausted legs, every steps seems to weigh a million tons and my body feels foreign to me.

I look toward the cliff edge and the water below that I could barely see, I had to find some deep water to dive into. Hopefully people were on their way to help us. But if the man was alive, he may not have that time.

I walk along the cliff, step by step, evaluating each section of it, before finally finding a suitable spot and diving in without a second thought.

I hear Aiden shout after me, calling for me to wait. But his voice is soon drained out by the air rushing past my ears and face, causing whistles and hoots that made me think of the happy group of people I had seen only half an hour ago.

The air is replaced by water as a huge force hits my body and I sink lower and lower. My instincts kick in and I thrash against the water, pushing myself back towards the cliff face, searching for the man.

It was so dark, my head bobs below the water every few seconds, and my palms sting with the contact of salt water and my head throbs as I push past every sign for me to stop, to give up.

Finally, I catch sight of a figure on the rocks nearby. I fight the current and push myself towards my destination. He couldn't die, he couldn't die because some stupid man didn't know the meaning of personal space. That couldn't happen, I wouldn't let it.
