I sit straight up, I was in a hospital bed but in my own clothes.
I swing my legs out and my feet touch the ground. I use my bed as a support to settle the unsteady feeling that overcomes me.
I stop for a moment and let the dizziness subside before making my way towards the door.
I put my hand on the door handle just as it opens and a nurse comes in.
"Oh, good. You're up." She says.
I look at her and she enters the room fully.
"I have to escort you up to Commander Carter as soon as you wake, which is now so let's go." She says, motioning for me to follow her.
The journey upstairs is agony as dizziness reigns every few seconds. I find myself clinging to the wall of the elevator.
Eventually, we get to the right floor and I push myself to get to the conference room in one piece.
The nurse doesn't seem to notice and bustles along normally.
I push myself and stumble into tbe conference room before collapsing in the nearest chair.
Everybody was already waiting for me and shifts their attention to me at my entrance.
Commander Carter clears his throat and we all look to him. "After your... incident we have been considering pushing the mission back or cancelling it completely. You're obviously not in a sta-"
"I am fine. A bit dizzy, yes. But I'm im good condition." I say.
Everyone in the room looks gobsmacked as I interrupt him but I can't find it in myself to care.
Carter doesn't seem in the mood to address it either so we move on quickly. "Are you sure?" He asks.
"I want to go. I need to get away from her after all that." I tell him.
He nods slowly. "Well, okay fine. We'll go ahead as planned, be ready tommorow morning." He concedes.
I thank him and leave immediately. I glance at my watch and realise it's nighttime. I missed my class with Aaron. No goodbye. Maybe that was better, I would probably give too much away if I did see him.
I reach my room finally to find my clothes ready on my bed next to my bag. I carefully pack the clothes inside and also pack over thirty vials of my medicine just in case.
I zip up the bag and place it on the floor next to bed. I strip off and crawl into bed ready to use sleep as a form of blocking life out.
* * *
That night I cried for three hours and sat there numbly for another two. At around two in the morning I finally manage to get some sleep.
Though barely two hours later my alarm drags me from my unconscious bliss.
I hit the button for my alarm for the last time, I realise. I swing my legs out of this bed in this room for the last time.
I had fifty minutes to grab something to eat and get ready to leave.
I pull on the same clothes from yesterday and venture out of my room.
I grab a few pieces of bread purely to fill myself up and stop me from feeling hungry for a good few hours at least.
I return to my room as it approaches four thirty in the morning.
I sigh and stare at my room. In my last minutes, I fix my room so that it's as if no one was ever here.
