EIGHT....

" You said what?" Kravitz screamed staring at me in shock. "I'm sorry Zeema but that sounded like pure bull shit. You've only just met this man and he already knows how to tingle your Pringles"

"Tingle my what" I said confused

"That's not the point, He already knows what to say to get you to succumb to his bullshit Zeema.  If you can't smell it, I sure as hell can and It stinks bad. I don't know if you've forgotten but he has a whole fiancée" Kravitz said shaking her head as she joined me on the couch.

"I know Kravitz he has a fiancée, I agreed to being friends it's not like I'm going to be sleeping with him. I work with the guy, he's literally my boss. We have to have some type of a  relationship for work to sail smoothly. I just want my days at work to be pleasant"

"News flash guys and girls can never just be friends. You sound insane right now it's Jeremy freaking Caine. New York's very own play boy. Do you know how shocked people were to find out of his engagement, do you know how many times he cheated on Lily, this is like the billionth time they've gotten back together" Kravitz said

" Ok People's magazine, I've heard you. I'm an adult and I can make decisions on my own. " I said sighing deeply.

" I know, I just don't want my best friend getting hurt or worse becoming one of the many girls I see in the magazines that Jeremy has played  and tossed away with a tarnished image, think about it Zeema. What ever you do I'll always have your back", She said rising from the couch and heading to her room leaving me there to drown in my thoughts.

The next day I had a 12 hour shift at the hospital and I was scrubbing in for a boob reduction/tummy tuck. This would also be the first day I'd see Jeremy since our little conversation about being just friends and boy was I nervous.

"Tazeema, I have some papers I need you to sign now" Trisha squeaked as I made my way into the building. I rolled my eyes and then turned making my way towards her table. " Jeremy hates tardiness so I'd like to have these ready for him before he arrives so please make it snappy Hun" she continued.

"That's Mr. Caine to you too hun" I said repeating the same thing she said to me when we first met. She looked up at me and gave me a force smile then slid the papers and a pen towards me. I quickly signed them

" I don't know if anyone has told you hun but Jeremy and I are family" she said sounding like a kid trying to have the last word.

" That might be the case but this is work hun. What's that Sherell always says; leave your personal life at the door" I said. Just then Jeremy strolled in looking mighty fine in his navy blue scrubs, he was on the phone but Trisha obviously failed to realize that.

"Good morning Mr. Caine" Trisha screamed as she ran to give him some files. He continued on the phone not acknowledging her. He collected the files, walked to the nearest table, signed them and gave the files back to Trisha who looked hurt but she masked it with a forced smile as she walked back to her desk. He finally looked up and saw me. He mumbled something on the phone and ended the call.

" Good morning Ms. Naidoo, walk with me while I brief you on the patient" he said showing off his dimples with a big smile.

" Have a nice day Patricia" I said gathering my stuff and joining Jeremy. Trisha's annoyance was very evident on her face.

" How was your weekend" he said as we waited for the elevator to descend

"Fine thank you, yours?" I replied staring at my crocs.

" Splendid" he replied. Just then the elevator pinged signaling its arrival.

Literally saved by the bell. This is going to be a long day I thought as we both stepped into the elevator. He briefed me on the patient as we made our way into his office. He gestured for me to have a seat while he made a quick call. After he was done we continued discussing the patient. This is really not bad. Jeremy and I could be cordial after all.

"Alright friend, lets do this. Prep Ms. Garcia for surgery and make sure the informed consent is signed" he said startling me and saving me from my thoughts. The sarcasm behind the "friend" comment did not go unnoticed.

"Would that be all sir" I said mentally patting my self on the shoulder and gathering my stuff.

"It's Jeremy, Taz don't do that. That's all for right now" he said with an exasperated expression. I simply nodded and headed out. Before I shut the door to his office I heard Jeremy sigh deeply. I turned to look his way and he had his head buried in his hands. I wanted so bad to wrap my arms around him and find out if he was ok, but for this professional relationship to work I left his office and quietly shut the door.

Jeremy taught and answered any questions the interns or nurses had during surgery. He was extremely focused and I found that incredibly sexy. The surgery went well and the patient was sent to recovery on the fifth floor. I was so excited I couldn't wait to tell Kravitz and China about my day. I walked out of the OR and walked smack into Jeremy.

" I'm sorry" I said looking up to a smiling Jeremy

" No problem, glad it was me and not the wall" he said laughing lightly

"Thanks for today, I had never seen anything like it, I mean I've watched videos, you know like Dr Miami on Snapchat but this was way different." I blabbed on but stopped when I noticed his amused expression.

"Sorry" I smiled sheepishly, my face instantly flushing.

"No continue, I love seeing this part of you, very care free. It kind of reminds of the day we met" he said smiling then looking down at his shoes.

" I should check on Ms. Garcia. Umm thanks again for the opportunity Mr. Caine" I said genuinely and practically ran from that situation.

I walked into the locker room and was met with a glorious body. Who ever it belonged to was struggling to put his shirt on so I took my time ogling at the 6 pack, hairless, chocolate body before me. I didn't know he had defeated the shirt till he cleared his throat and I lifted my eyes slowly to his beautiful face.

"Hi I'm Dr. Travis Brown" he said extending his hand. Of course his name would be brown. Pun definitely intended there. I shook his hand and proceeded to introduce myself.

"Hi I'm doc... nurse Tazeema , I mean I'm Tazeema Naidoo and I'm a nurse... here... in this building" I stuttered wanting to bang my head on one of the lockers . He laughed and his dimples appeared. Dimples again what is with this hospital. Fine men and dimples.

"So Dr. Brown...." I started

"Travis" he corrected smiling

"So Travis don't the doctors have their own locker rooms? Not that I mind you being here because I don't obviously" I blabbed on mentally slapping myself. I can't help that I talk to much when I'm nervous.

" We do but being the total klutz that I am, I spilled coffee on my scrubs so here I am borrowing my brothers back up scrubs" He said and realization dawned on me. He's standing in front of Collin Browns locker. Collin was a first year resident doctor at the hospital. So Travis was that brother. The Brown brothers had a bit of a reputation at this hospital. Definitely workwise but more for womanizing especially with nurses.

"Collin is your brother, I guess I can see the resemblance now"  I said pointing to the locker he stood in front of.

"Yea, uhh.... well  It was very nice meeting you Ms. Naidoo. I got to run. It's a good day to save lives" he said smiling sheepishly

"It was nice meeting you to Derrick Sheppard" I said laughing and he joined in

"I'll see you around" he said walking out backwards and staring at me. I waved and turned to my locker. Did it get hot in here or something.
