Chapter 37

Chapter 37: "There's a big difference between who we love, who we settle for, and who we're meant for."

I didn't get much sleep waiting for Vince. Napa-buntong hininga na lang ako at bumaba ang tingin sa gatas na lumamig na. Hindi ako mapakali dahil hindi pa umuuwi ang asawa ko. Nag-aalala ako sa kanya.

I was snapped out of my thoughts when a pair of arms wrapped around my waist. Napapikit na lang ako at nagpasalamat na nakauwi siya ng maayos. Isiniksik niya ang mukha sa pagitan ng leeg at balikat ko. 

I heaved out a sigh of relief then hugged his arms. "Is she okay?"

"She was a mess."

I bit my lower lip and nodded, trying to understand even if there was a pinch feeling in my heart. Isinantabi ko iyon dahil alam ko na hindi ako dapat makaramdam ng ganon. Humigpit ang yakap niya sa akin at ilan sandaling nanatili sa ganong posisyon. 

After he had taken a shower, he lay beside me, and wrapped his arm around my waist while I was sitting on the edge of the bed, combing my fingers through his wet hair. 

"You better get some sleep, Vince." 

He just made a sound and closed his eyes. Akmang aalisin ko na ang braso niyang nakayakap sa akin ng magmulat siya ng mga mata sabay higpit ng yakap niya sa akin.

"Where are you going?"

"Downstairs. I'll check kung anong pwedeng iluto para sa lunch natin."

"Just stay here. We have people to do that for us." Tinitigan ko lang siya. He closed his eyes again but his arm remained around me. "Just stay here while I sleep. Don't leave."

I just smiled and breathed out. Sumandig na lang ako sa headboard at hinaplos haplos ang braso niyang nakayakap sa akin. Hindi nagtagal ay pantay na ang paghinga niya.

I woke up with Vince planting soft kisses on my lips and face. He smiled softly at me. I closed my eyes and wrapped my arms around him. Hindi ko namalayan na habang pinapanood ko siyang matulog ay nakaidlip din pala ako. Probably, it was due to lack of sleep the night before. 

He stroked my back and kissed my shoulder. I let out a moan and buried my face even more in his chest. He just smells so good I can sniff him all day. And I told him exactly that which made him chuckle. 

"I think I would enjoy that a lot."

Tumawa ako at mas hinigpitan ang yakap sa kanya. "Vince," I muttered softly.

"Hmm?" 

"I'm hungry."

Hinalikan niya ako ng mariin sa labi bago kami tumayo. He put a lot on my plate but I was able to finish it which wasn't a surprise since it was already past 6 in the evening and we skipped lunch.

Napagkatuwaan namin na mag-swimming pagkatapos mag-dinner. Para kaming mga bata na naghaharutan sa pool at tawa ng tawa. Napatili ako ng bigla niyang hilahin ang paa ko at niyakap ako sa ilalim ng tubig at hinalikan. 

We were both gasping as we resurfaced, grinning at each other. Muli niya akong niyakap at isinandig sa pader. I just stared into his eyes and vice versa. Ang ngiti niya ay unti-unting nawala. 

"Why?" My forehead creased a bit. "I was with Lisette the whole night and yet you never ask me anything."

I breathed out and cupped his face. "Because I trust you."
