Chapter 34

Chapter 34:"You drew memories in my mind, I could never erase. You painted colors in my heart I could never replace."

After what happened, Vince kept to himself the next two days. He always seemed to be in deep thoughts. There were also times when I caught him staring at me. Alam ko kahit hindi niya sabihin ay may takot pa rin siya at hindi pa buo ang tiwala niya sa akin. But I would never get tired of showing him how much I love him.

"Vince," Nasa may terrace siya at naninigarilyo. 

He threw his cigarette right away before he turned to face me. Lumakad ako palapit sa kanya at yumakap mula sa likod niya.

"You're smoking again."

"Just str.." He sighed. "Sorry."

"I baked your favorite cake."

Isang tipid na ngiti ang ibinigay niya sa akin. "Really."

Hinawakan ko ang kamay niya. "Let's eat it."

Nagpahila naman siya sa akin papasok. Paupo na lang kami ng tumunog ang buzzer. Ako na sana ang magbubukas ng pinto pero sinabihan ako niya akong i-prepare na lang ang cake. Nag-kibit balikat na lang ako at kumuha ng platito at tinidor. 

"I heard you cancel your appointments and I got worried. I thought you were sick or something. So I dropped by to see how you're doing." Natigilan ako sa pag-hakbang. I recognized that voice. "By the way, I also bought your favorite cake!"

"Liz, you didn't have to. I'm fine."

"Nonsense. Let's go and eat it! I know how much you love this ca-" Hindi ako nakakilos ng magkaharap kami ni Lisette. She, too, looked shocked like. "You're still here. Uh, I mean, I.. Hi, Chela. Nice to see you again," she said with a composed smile.

I swallowed and just gave her a small smile. Lumapit pa siya at bineso ako. Vince cleared his throat.

"Let's take a seat."

"Yeah, let's eat it!" masiglang itinaas ni Lisette ang dalang box ng cake. "I bought cheesecake because Vince likes it a lot, isn't that right" baling niya kay Vince na sa akin nakatingin.

But I baked cheesecake for Vince.. "I'll get another plate and fork."

"Actually, Chela baked cheesecake for me," Vince said.

Nakita ko ang bahagyang pagkawala ng ngiti ni Lisettte pero kaagad din niya iyong inayos bago mapansin ni Vince. "Oh is that so? But you like this cheesecake from Deli. I mean, no offense, Chela, I'm sure you bake well. But.."

"Uh, it's okay. I'm sure mas masarap yang dala mo. Iyan na lang ang ihanda natin."

"Actually, I would like a slice of your cheesecake, angel."

Napatingin kami kay Vince na tumalikod na at umupo. It wasn't something big, but it made me happy. 

"Of course," I said with a big smile.

Pagkatapos namin kumain ay iniwan ko muna ang dalawa dahil mukhang may kailangan silang pag-usapan na trabaho. Besides, I couldn't stand the sight of Lisette being too close to Vince. Nagseselos ako pero wala akong magawa. So I just stayed in the kitchen and pretended to be busy baking some cookies even if I had no plans of doing so.

"So you're still here."

Lisette sauntered into the kitchen, took out the pitcher from the refrigerator, and poured water into a glass. She breathed out then faced me.
