Chapter 15: To the moon and back

When I was done with my homework, I looked for Vince. He picked me up from school and brought me in his penthouse because he wanted to spend more time with me before he officially take over their company here. But since I had a lot of homework, he went out of his room to let me study.

I found him in his  library. He was busy with some paperwork. I smiled softly. He looked so serious. If he weren't my boyfriend, I'd be so intimidated of him.

"Hey," he said when he noticed me.

"Hey," I responded.

I walked towards him then he reached for my hand, pulled me closer and made me sit on his lap. He pecked my lips.

"Are you done with your homework?" I nodded, smiling. "Then I have all your attention now?"

I giggled. "Yep! Pero mukhang may ginagawa ka pa eh," I said, glancing at the papers that were scattered on his desk.

"Those can wait."

I stroked the back of his head. He made a sound. Mas sumiksik pa siya sa akin.

"When will you start?"

He sighed. "Next Monday."

"Actually, I was supposed to start last week but I asked dad to give me some time with you."

He closed his eyes and leaned his on my palm. A moment like this is what I treasure most. Just some quiet time with him.

"I'm scared, Angel," he said, breaking the silence.

Tumingin ako sa kanya. He looked pretty deep in his thoughts. "What are you scared of?" I asked.

He breathed out deeply then held me more tightly, but not tight enough to hurt me. "Of the responsibility. It's too big for me. I mean I don't know if I'm even ready for this." He was pressured I could see that.

"Bakit mo naman iniisip na hindi ka pa handa?"

"Maybe because I feel like I'm not yet half the man my dad is," he muttered.

"Vince..."

He gave me a sad smile. He tucked the my stray hair behind my ear then he sighed.

"Dad is a very well known businessman. People think so highly of him, including me. He started his own company at a young age then made it big. So big that I don't know if I can even surpass his success."

Hindi ako kumibo. Kinuha ko lang ang kamay niya. I gently squeezed it, silently comforting him in my own way.

"People have high expectations of me. They expect me to have golden hands in business like dad. I'm scared of failing and disappointing my dad. My family. It's just so suffocating and tiring sometimes," he said.

Ipinatong niya ang noo sa balikat ko. I breathed out then brushed my fingers through his hair. Bahagya ko ring minamasahe ang ulo niya.

"Vince, you don't have to prove anything to anyone. I know you'll be as great as your dad or maybe even greater," I said with a smile.
