"New Kids on the Block really are these guys still even around Kim?"
"Of course they are still around and you fuckin promised me you would go with me for my birthday so you have to go"
"Shit I did didn't I"
"Yes you did right after I picked your drunk ass up from the club that night and covered your ass with mom"
"I know I promised but that was like 5 years ago, like I ever thought they be doing concerts again"
"Well they are and you have to you promised for my 21st birthday"
"Fuckin fine, I'll go"
"Eeeekkk awesome, I love ya bitch"
"Love me less will you".

So that was it my best friend Kim just guilted me into a concert with a band I never even gave a shit about when they were actually relevant and popular. Kim had this obsession with them since we were kids and since she is my best friend guess who now has to go see these guys for her 21st birthday, just because she bailed my ass out when I was 17 and drunk at a nightclub that all my friends and I got fake IDs to get into. I would have promised anything just so I didn't get in any trouble with my mom and dad. My Mom  was a high school drama teacher and my dad was one of North Carolina's finest police officers. I really shouldn't be this irritated about going Kim has been my best friend since we were 8. I knew she always have been the biggest fan of the band, me I honestly don't even know the names of the guys in the band.

So here I was Friday night standing in front of my closet trying to figure out what to wear to this concert, Kim has changed probably 20 times and hasn't stopped talking about it for the past week Straight. Me I just want this thing done and over with. I almost feel guilty on how not into I am since Kim is loosing her mind over it.

"Sierra you think we'll get to meet they guys if we head to where the buses are after the show"
"Kim I don't know"
"I totally think We should"
"I have to work tommorow I really can't bus stalk tonight and I did promise only the concert"
"I know but please Sierra"
"Jesus Kim you owe me"

We finished getting ready and climbed into my Hummer heading over to the arena. Kim better love me for this, I canceled plans to go to New York City to go to this with her.  We parked and headed to the entrance I was actually floored by the amount of people outside waiting to get in and find their seats.
Doors opened at 6 and everyone hurried in anxious to find there seat before the show started. We headed over and I grabbed a beer before we found our seats, third row center stage, great looks like I'm getting a up close with the band tonight...fabulous.

We were halfway into the opening act, the band wasn't actually going on for about 45 more minutes so I knew I had some time

"Kimmy"
"Yea"
"I'm gonna go out for a quick smoke before the show since I know you'd have a seizure if I left during it"
"Yeah I would, but go you remember how to get back to our seats"
"Unfortunately"
I giggled and headed out. I walked around the building since the entire front of the arena is no smoking, I'm telling you what at that moment I kicked myself on my outfit, I had on a mini destressed Jean skirt with a tank top and stiletto booties. I was freezing and my feet already killed me.
Finally made to the back of the building when I noticed that the tour buses were parked back there I thought to myself "Kim would shit her pants if she seen this". I didn't think to much about in and I began to dig through my purse finally finding my Newport's. I pulled one out putting it to my lips and light my lighter taking a long drag of it. I sat for a few moments just hanging when I heard a voice.
"Cold night huh"
There stood a guy in jeans and tee shirt baseball hat on his head
"Yea"
"You here for the show"
"Kinda not really my best friend is a fan of these guys and I owed her one"
" so you're not a fan of the band"
"No"
"Oh... hey I left my pack you think I can get one"
"Sure".

I reached into my purse and handed him a cigarette and my lighter, he light his handing me my lighter back.

"Thanks"
" no problem"

He leaned up against the wall next to me taking a drag from his cigarette.

"You from around here"
"Yea"
"You"
"No up north"
Ah".

He wasn't unfortunate looking but I really wasn't paying to much attention I just wanted to finish my cigarette and get back in and get this over with.

"I'm Joe by the way"
"Sierra"
He extended his hand I didn't want to be rude so I shook his hand, I took the last drag of my cigarette before tossing it to the ground and stepping on it with my heel.

"I'm gonna head back in and find my friend"
"Nice too meet you, thanks for the smoke"
"No problem".

I made my way around the building and finally found Kim 10 minutes later.

"Jesus take long enough"
"Sorry has to go all the way around the building to the back to have a smoke"
"You fuckin freezing much"
"Slightly"
"Well opening act just ended so show will start in a few minutes"
"Fabulous"

I rolled my eyes,
"Sierra really"
"Sorry".

I took a sip of my beer and checked my phone quick, when suddenly the lights dimmed and the beat drops, Kim grabs my arm and squeals in excitement.
I looked up at the stage and over to Kim, a smile crossed my face she was so excited how could I not be happy for her.
I was into the second song when I looked up at the stage there singing in front of me was the guy who was outside with me. He must have noticed me because he smiled and waved.

"See did he just wave to you"
"Guess so he was the guy I gave a cig to when I was out back"
"Holy fuck do you know who that is"
"Think he said his name is Joe"
"That's Joe freakin McIntyre"
"Ok"
"You got to talk to Joe McIntyre and he is smiling and waving at you"
"Yea and I gave him a smoke we chatted well we both had a smoke and I left"
"I can't even believe you met him and didn't tell me"
"I didn't know who it was"
"Still".

We took selfies and pictures throughout the night, Kimmy having the time of her life. Concert ended at 10 and we headed out. Kimmy had the time of her life and I'm happy for her Me on the other hand I just wanted to go home and crawl into bed since I have to work in the morning.
