I'll Never Be Your Mate

Chapter 25

Jake P.O.V

I entered the shower and let the cold water flow over me. All the past events flashed in my head as it had been for the past days.

I felt strange when I saw Austin being so close to Ashley. The weirdest thing is that I felt myself angry, and I mostly slipped my control on my wolf as he just wanted to tear Austin to shreds to put his hands on Ashley. She is always cheerful around him, laughing at his side. However, to me, she only saved those side glances, small smiles, and mostly her glares.

I started asking myself whether these feelings and reactions call jealousy. I'm confused as hell. I couldn't say now that Ashley is just another girl that I had things with. Though she is my mate, I thought it wouldn't affect me that much as a small feeling here and there when she touched me or was around. But damn hell, was I wrong. She affected me millions of times more than I imagined.

The feelings and the reactions she inflicted in me by her presence were more intense and fiery that I could just have a hard on by being in the same room as her. It was so painful to be around her. It just made me want her more.

I felt I'm changing. Never had I felt like this for a girl in my life. Each day, the temptation to make her mine grew bigger. I wished those laughs and smiles were there because of me. She's really getting into me.

No, I would not let her affect me. It's too dangerous both for her and me. I would end up hurting her.

Moreover, she already hated me. There was no other feeling other than hate in her heart for me. She was waiting impatiently for this drama to finish at all.

I came out of the shower drying my body. I took a towel and walked in the bedroom in only with my jeans. I had the towel over my head, drying my hair. "You can use the bathroom now. I have finished." Eva looked up from where she was sitting on the bed. She nodded and went in the bathroom.

I was drying my hair with my both hands on the towel when I stopped suddenly on hearing something. I tried to grasp the voices that I thought I heard, but only the silence was returned to me apart the running of water in the bathroom. I shook my head at myself and continued drying my hair. Again, I heard it. The voices were there and louder. This stopped me in my track. My eyes opened wide, and my whole body froze.

As soon as I could assemble my mind, I started to panic. I dropped the towel on the bed and strode to the bathroom's door. I knocked frantically on the door. "Eva, have you finished inside? Can you please hurry up, I need you outside. This is an emergency."

"Yeah. I finish. Wait a second. " I stayed stood before the door waiting for her. I turned my head behind and concentrated on the sounds outside. The voices were coming closer. Just then, Eva opened the door. One of her hands was on the knob and the other was seizing her towel to her chest. She looked up with a queried expression on her face.

"Come quickly! I need you out immediately, " I said quickly. Eva looked baffled at me and sputtered, "WH—what?"

"Come on. There's no time to explain. " I grabbed her wrist and took her in my arms. She was too shocked to say anything. She just looked warily at me and around. She gripped her towel tight to her torso as I carried her out of my room and in the room beside me.

They were still below. I shifted Eva in one arm and opened Ashley's door with the free one. Austin was in the room with a t-shirt in his hands, ready to pass over his head. Ashley also, at the same time, opened the door of the bathroom and came out fully dressed in a summer dress.

At seeing us, they both froze in their way. Austin stood agape at Eva and me. He blinked at Eva. "Wh—wha—what is going here?" Eva flustered and flushed in my arms. She tried to both lower her towel down to cover her thighs and to rise it up over her chest.

Ashley still stood baffled at the door. Austin seemed to recover and looked wide at us and my arms around Eva. His fists clenched by his side. "Seriously! What the hell is going on here?!"

I released Eva and put her down quickly. "Our parents are here! I need Austin out of here. Immediately!"

At that, they became aware of the situation, they looked at each other in a panic. "What?!" Ashley gasped. I pushed Eva side way and grabbed Austin arms in a hurry, and dashed back to my room with him.

He wore his t-shirt, and I went to the wardrobe and grabbed one myself. "Whoa, you gave me a scare," Austin added in the end as he ran his hands over his hair.

I gave him a side smile. "Better like this than later." Just in time, footsteps heard on the stairs and my parents' voices reached up. I walked to the door and glanced at Austin, "Try to act normal but a little surprise to see them" he gave me a wry look. I chuckled and turned the knob.

Just I opened the door, my father was in front of the stairs, looking both sides along the corridor. He looked in front at seeing me. A wide smile spread on his face.

"Dad!" I made a fake shock face.

Mom, Ashley's parents, Nike's parents, and Brandon's parents came up behind dad. They grinned, "Surprise!" they exclaimed.

"Wow! That's was a surprise" I let out a small laugh. Austin came up behind me. Ashley and Eva came out of their room along with the other couples.

"Austin! What a pleasure to see you. What are you doing here?" Aiden exclaimed.

"He came to join us for the holidays as well as Eva." Eva made a nervous smile and a small wave at them. All the parents smiled.

Ashley gaped. A smile formed over her lips, "Mom! What are you all doing here?"

"Oh, Ashley!" Rose came forward, smiling warmly and hugging Ashley. "We came to see you all." She looked at her."We miss you, honey."

Nike, Brandon, Stella, and Sarah joined us in front of my doorstep. Mrs Walson walked to Nike and kissed him on his cheeks and smiling she gazed at Sarah. She hugged her and said "Also we came to see our son's mate."

Dad grinning added, "I think the meeting and greeting can be done downstairs. It's being too cp⁹rowded here."

As we realised so, everyone started to go downstairs. I closed my door. I sighed a relief as I followed them.
