Chapter 39

I came out of sleep around the afternoon. Jake was sleeping soundly beside me, on his stomach. His face was inch away from mine. A dull headache passed over my head. I groaned as I ran my fingers in my hair. This was one after effect of heat.

I turned to Jake' side and watched him sleep. I closed the gap between our face and nuzzled my nose against his. Little tingles running in my body.

A sigh came from Jake before he moved his arms over me, pulling me to him. He opened his eyes and smiled down at me. "Good morning"

I smiled "good afternoon"

His eyes widen. I laughed at his expression "it's already afternoon. We have been asleep the half day."

He had an 'oh' expression on his face as he rubbed sleep from his eyes.

I gave him a kiss on his cheek before lifting the cover off me and placed my feet on the floor. I stood up but it was not a second before I collapsed down on the floor. At hearing the thud, Jake sat up wide awake, looking everywhere. When his eyes laid down on me, he looked surprised at me. I stared wide eyes as well with my cheeks redden.

His look changed to a smug one. "Lost your feet?"

It was obvious after having sex so much.

"Do I have to answer that?" I gave him a glare.

I wasn't feeling my feet at all.

It was so embarrassing. It reminded me how I acted yesterday.

Jake got out of the bed and walked around it and came to my side. He crouched in front of me with that genuine smirk on his face. Upon seeing my expression, he tried to drop his smile but each time ended with his lips tremble in amusement. He bit pressing his lips together.

He picked me up and placed me on the bed. The whole time, I glared at him daring him to laugh. In the end, he burst into laughter.

My shoulders slumped and I pout as I watched him laugh at me.

"I'm so sorry" he swiped his tears at his corner of eyes. He sat beside me and took me in his embrace.

"It's okay" I grumbled.

"You want to go to the bathroom?" he asked smiling with guilty look on his face.

I nodded.

He lifted me up and took me to me the bathroom.

"By the way. You have lost, you gave in sex first"

"I was in heat. It doesn't count" I threw back.

He threw his head back in laugh and closed the bathroom door.

"You didn't tell me what pack businesses you had in San Diego? You always rushing out for pack purposes." I asked Jake as I perched on Jake across the arm rest of the Jake's private jet's chair.

We were returning to Colorado. Some days after my heat, Ethan called asking us to return back when he knew we mated. Like their plan for vacation was to make us mate. I had thought ironically. Well the duration we had planned for the vacation was coming to an end anyway.

Jake wrapped his arm around my shoulder. "I was gathering all proof against Luke's father. I had told before that they were my pack's rival. He is tyrant. He ill-treated his pack members and managed to even turn some pack members like him, ill thinking person. His father had been causing trouble for my father and my pack. We had long history with them. Well he had a bad reputation among many packs. He had killed some my pack members ruthlessly under the false impression of trespassing in the eye of council.
