I'll Never Be Your Mate

Chapter 23

 Jake and Eva were always together. They sat across me on the booth in the diner. In fact, as I'm so close to them, I could hear all. They were reminiscing how Eva helped Jake to escape from the fights occur with his ex-girlfriends for the following days after breaking up with them.

Austin was beside me. I started to talk to him. We also shared our lives about after going to universities. The crazy things we did without each other. "There was one that was the most embarrassing and crazy thing I ever did" I started chortle. "Just remembering it is making me laugh. There was a professor in university. He was the most boring professor I ever had. His lecture was always boring. All students would sleep or talk in his lecture but he wouldn't give a damn at all to us. I was among the ones who used to talk in his class. However, I don't know why he didn't get me. He sometime told me that I'm too ambitious and snub. For the past two years, he gave me extra low marks and even fail me for a semester. I couldn't endure his torture and I decided then to give him a lesson" I giggled which made Austin to laugh as well.

"It was during my last semester in my study. One friend of mine in the same class, was a hacker. With his help, we hacked the professor's laptop. We got some quite interesting information. There was a huge fan in the class. One day in his class, I had switched the fan on with its full speed with his remote secretly just when he entered the classroom. As the fan was directly in his direction, the wind takes off his wig off his head and swirl it out of the class. Completely embarrassed, he dashed outside to fetch his wig. Everyone was laughing at him. Still flushed red, he came back with his wig placed messily on his head. He silenced the class. Though we continue snicker around. There was a presentation that need to take place for that lecture. He lit his laptop and the projector quickly in an attempt to divert the attention. The videos and images showed up for the presentation but it continued with a porn video that was there in his laptop.

I had never saw him that flustered in my life. I couldn't stop laughing, the sounds of the couple were filled out in the all cornerof the class." I needed to take a break in between my story because my laughs were breaking free out of me, joining along with Austin's.

"Indeed, he got to know that I was behind this and made me out of his lecture for the whole semester. The satisfaction from the revenge was greater than this. I didn't let this incidence got to my dad's ears."

When I finished telling, Austin was still chortling. "You're such a badass. You were always good at pranking." I chuckled while turning my head in front. I caught Jake smiling and looking at me. I puzzled for a second , his eyes were twinkling with laughs. Was he listening to me the whole time? I gave him a little smile while raising my eyebrows at him. With a small smile playing on his lips, he shake his head and rolled his eyes. He then turned to talk to Eva. Atleast I'm still amusing to him. I turned back to talk with Austin and others.

After eating our food, we went to supermarket and bought all the necessary things for the night. With all the bags, we didn't pay attention about going in with whom and sitting with whom. I got in the first car I saw. Stella was already seated in the passenger seat. As I sat in the back of the car, another person got in through the door. As I turned my head, I met eyes to eyes with Jake. "Oh!" I gaped at him. His eyes grew wide in surprised as well.

Well, I didn't wait to sit beside him in the same car.

When I realised I was staring open mouthed, I closed my mouth immediately.

He came out of his shock as well. I gave him a small nod and turned in front. As silence filled in between us, things seemed awkward. Since yesterday, we hadn't say much to each other. I didn't even remember when we had a proper conversation, I didn't think we ever had one. Wasn't he all talkative with Eva some minutes ago? He is tight lipped now? Am I that a bother to even talk to?
