Jen's POV
Angus woke me up and we headed over to the arena where the awards were taking place. I still had no idea what we were even presenting, but I was honoured regardless that MTV kept giving me these amazing opportunities.
Angus hasn't really said much in the car ride over, and I was growing curious as to what his problem was. Usually he was super chatty and considering this was our first time alone on months, I'd assume he'd want to talk.
"So what's the issue O'Loughlin? Usually it's hard to get you to shut up, have you lost your voice or something?" I joked with him as we walked into the arena.
"Ha nah I'm just tired, I didn't think you'd be up for a chat anyway, I'm guessing you're pretty jet-lagged," he gave me a small smile, and I wasn't satisfied with his answer.
"I know you well enough to know when you're bullshitting me Angus, what's wrong? Is it about Mason being gay?" Angus wasn't a homophobe by any means, but I had no idea what his problem would be from the time I got to his apartment to right now.
"What? No way! Mason seems like a top bloke, just as long as he doesn't go replacing little old me in your heart!" He pretended to cry and I immediately felt like I was just being paranoid, because he was back to his old self now.
"Never!" I laughed, and we were greeted by Karen.
"Jen!" She squealed, and pulled me into a tight hug.
"Hi Karen!" I pulled away and smiled at her. She looked the exact same, only her hair was a little lighter than six months ago.
"How are things? How's your new boss? Not better than me I hope!"
"Ava is great! She reminds me a lot of you which is comforting, sometimes it feels just like tour, only minus a few things of course," some things being Harry. Speaking of Harry, I wondered if he were here.
"We'll have to get you back out here one day and do a tour special or something for old times sake! Here is a copy of your script, have a read but don't worry there will be a Teleprompter for you to read off, just make yourself familiar with the lines. I have to go but I'll see you tomorrow!" She handed me the paper and said a quick hello to Angus before rushing off backstage again.
I skimmed through the lines, "biggest boy band in the world" "hail from right here in England" and my heart immediately began to race. Without even reading the final words "One Direction" I knew exactly who we were presenting for.
Harry.
"No!" I shook my head at the words on the paper.
"Are you okay?" Angus placed a hand on my shoulder to grab my attention. Out of every performer here, it had to be them. Of course it did.
"Did you know we were introducing One Direction?" I looked up at him.
"Yeah," he sighed.
"Why didn't you tell me?" I asked him, surprised he managed to keep this from me.
"What difference would it have made? You would have freaked out for weeks, and probably found an excuse not to come. You can't avoid him forever Jen!" As angry as I was, and as anxious as I was that I would definitely have to see Harry now, I understood what Angus meant. He was right, he was always bloody right.
"Angus! Jen! Can we get you on the stage please!" Someone called out over the microphone before I could get into this conversation with Angus over how much I was dreading seeing Harry.
We practiced our walk and our lines over and over until the producers were happy with our delivery, then Angus and I were dismissed for the night.
I was happy to have not run into Harry tonight, apparently the performers had all left just before we arrived, that to me sounded like someone watching over me, but I guess it just came down to pure luck.
