Jared's side of the story

He puts down the paper he’s reading on the table and look outside through the glass wall of the coffee shop he’s in. The sky is clear now here at Seoul.

He visits every now and then for business.

He usually stays for three days but this time it’s going to be a week for another purpose. After that, his eyes focused on the book that his sister asked him to buy. He remembered that whenever they’re sitting and having a coffee on the garden Seohyun always have a book on her hands. Allyson was turned into a hopeless romantic girl thanks to this Summer for feeding her with those fantasies about love.

He’s just glad that his younger sister’s grades are good and at the age of nineteen, still no boyfriend.

LOVE…maybe she’ll laugh at him if he admit that he still don’t know how to define it. He had been on a relationship twice but unfortunately both failed to work out.

“You’re a very nice guy Jared but you’re like an empty shell.”

“You’re the person I want to date but you like dating your paper works more than me.”

He remembered his ex-girlfriends dialogues as they dumped him.He didn’t try to woo another one after that. Maybe this so-called Love is Not his thing…Then he someone tapped his shoulder.

“When did you start being gay Hyung?”Aidan joked looking on the romance novel on the table.

“What happened to Sci-Fi and mystery fictions?” Keith said as he sit across him.

“Yah! It’s for Allyson. I’m going to send it to her later.” He snatched it from Aidan’s hand.

“So, the date is set?” Keith changed the subject. He just nods as he drink his coffee.

“Waahh…I can’t believe that you’re going to get married first hyung!” Aidan exclaimed after the waiter left.

“So when is Darlene coming to Seoul?” Keith asked.

                “Tomorrow night”.

                “What is she like?”

“She seems to be a nice person”.

                “Do you like each other?”

“We’ll work on that after the wedding”.

“Poor lady, she’s gonna be stuck with a guy like you” Aidan teased him.

“Why?! What’s wrong with me? You talk as if I’m a bad guy. Among the three of us, I think I’m the one who treat girls well.”

“Yeah…You are one damn nice guy, because you don't mind whatever your girlfriend do. You’re very patient, understanding, and cool. Do still recall when your ex said that having Jared Kim as a boyfriend is freaky because you’re like a living statue?”

He smiled bitterly with what Keith said. Aidan and Keith are his bestfriends. They’ve known each other since middle school. They know each other very well.

“What if it’s not Darlene?” Aidan uttered while stirring his coffee. They both look at him.

“What if, in a time and place that you least expect, you encounter the girl who’ll catch your attention? The girl who will make you lovesick and will awake your cold heart?” Aidan said in a dreamy tone. Keith was about to burst into laughter.

“Yah..Yah..Yah!” Jared poked Aidan on the forehead. “I think it’s you who reads romance novels!”

“Jared, remember those lines by Aidan Shakesphere! hehehe…” Keith laugh again.

“Do you know Shakesphere?”  Jared asked Aidan.

“Of course! What do you take me for?!” the latter responded confidently.

“Who’s he?” he pause for a moment.

“Keith hyung’s foreign neighbor.” He said seriously. Their jaws dropped.

“Ha.. Ha.. Ha!” Jared laughed sarcastically. Then he pick up his things and look at Keith.

“Keith, let’s go..”he said and they stand.

“Why..why..why?Isn’t he?” Aidan is still clueless.
