Sandy's side of the story

Sandy felt the weight of her steps as she came out of the doctor’s office.

“The patient is currently suffering from the selective amnesia. Due to the head injury that Mr. Choi got from the accident, his brain lost the grasp on the recent events. On his case, it seems that his memory right now is from seven years ago. “

“Will he be able to retain those memories he lost?”

“I’m afraid I couldn’t give you a definite answer on that. Some get it back after a few weeks or months but there are some that had it permanently.”

She continues to walk then sits at the bench at the end of the corridor. She felt like her energy was drawn out of her body. Jared sits next to her.

“Why did this happen? Why now when he’s just starting to live a good life? Why does it have to be taken away from him?”

                “Nobody wanted this to happen…”

“What should I do? How should I tell Aunt about it?” Tear started to fall from her eyes.

Jared wrapped her on his arms.

“What should I do?..... What should I do ….What should I do.…” she said in between her cries.

“How are feeling, my son?” Julian's mom sits beside him.

“The doctor said that I'll be fine. I could go out in a few days so don't worry mom.” he answered in a comforting tone.

“I understand...I'll prepare the house for your return..” The old woman nodded while preventing herself to cry.

Sandy's parents, his mom, Sandy, and Jared are all in the room. Julian's mom cried a lot when she informed her of Julian's real condition. Mr. and Mrs. Shim were shocked with the news as well. However, everyone decided not to mention a lot so Julian won't worry.

“Do I still live in our house Ommoni? Didn't I get a pad of my own?” a question that makes eyes land on Sandy.

“I found out from the nurse earlier. I was wondering on the date in the calendar so I confirmed it. There are things that I don't remember right?” Julian made it in a light tone. His mom just nodded.

“I feel like everything is new to me. It's hard to believe but its true...there's a big hole in my memory...It sucks....but don't worry, I'm still grateful I'm still alive...” then he stares at Sandy.

“I promise, we'll do everything to make you recover from all of it..”

He smiled at his mom.

“Aunt, Uncle...thank you for visiting me..It's getting late, I think you should go back home since I'm doing fine now. Please take my mom home.”

“What are saying? I'll stay with you tonight.”

“Not having enough sleep is not good for your body. You won't sleep well here Ommoni...” Julian still worries about his mom's blood pressure.
