Amaurotic \\ The Maze Runner [Newt] [1]

Chapter Twenty-Seven

Ben had already been banished to the Maze, Nova didn't want to feel the vibration of the heartbreaking scene, so she had stayed in the homestead until it was over. Although, she did hear Ben's screams and cries as the Maze doors slowly closed. She rummaged through the letters throughout the years, to distract her from the horrible thoughts.

As she rummaged through a bunch of her letters, she came across the ones that give out hints. "There's a code in-", and suddenly a spark erupted in Nova's mind.

"The letters," Her eyes widened in realizing. "Oh my shuck, the letters!"

Nova got up, and brought those special letters with her. Running out of the homestead, and out into the open Glade.

"GUYS!" Nova yelled.

"Is everything alright?" David asked.

"Nova," Chuck wondered. "What's wrong?"

Nova tried to calm herself down as much as she possibly could, "Its the letters, go get Minho, Newt, Alby and Gally."

She then added, "And even Thomas."

"Wait, Thomas?" Chuck was confused. "Why?"

Nova answered without hesitation, "Because if that girl  was familiar to him. No doubt whatever's in these letters, will be too."

The Gladers that Nova requested were in the gathering with her, to discuss the issue about the letters. Well, not much of an issue, but more of a discovery.

"Here," Gally handed Nova the recent two letters. "I hope this goes somewhere, and is not another dead end."

Nova allowed Newt to guide her fingers on one of the recent letters. "The Maze." Nova speaks.

"The Maze?" Minho questioned. "What about the Maze?"

"There's a code in the Maze." Nova repeated the letters in a full sentence, but she whispered it to herself.

She then realizes something, "Guys-" She turns her body toward everyone in the gathering, feeling their vibrations and sensing their particles one-by-one. "The Maze. According to these letters, the Maze is a code, or has a code."

Thomas sat there, listening. He didn't know what to make with all of this new information. But little did everyone know... he's been having dreams. So Nova wasn't the only one after all...

"Minho," Nova called out.

"Yeah?" He wonders, curiously.

"What's the order of the Maze each day?"

"7, 1, 5, 2, 6, 4, 8, 3." Minho gave each number, one at a time. "Why?"

"I think that might be it, what these letters are referring to..." Nova ran her fingers over the fragile bumps, making sure to be extra careful. "... I think that might be the code..."

"What?" Alby instantly turned to Thomas. "Do you know-" But he was instantly cut off.

"The girl!" Jeff runs into the homestead.

"The girl?" Newt asks confused.

Jeff huffs from running, "She's awake."

An hour passes, and Minho and Alby left to explore more of the Maze before the day ends. Nova, Newt and Thomas were in the medhut, to check up on the girl who had been in a coma for what feels like forever.
