[ P A S T ]
Nova had carefully made her way to the - she didn't even know what they called It - Bundles of tree's, seeming almost like the wood's. As she had climbed up one of the tallest tree's there, wanting to be alone, she didn't know anyone there. And she had no idea whether they were friendly or not.
That boy who's name was Newt, seemed like the nicest one there. She only hoped there were other's who were nice as well, and they were just as confused as she was.
It was two day's after they had, what they'd like to call, the "Gathering". Whatever that was, she thought.
And she guessed she was going to be fine after all, because they let her roam around when they finished. Not harming her one bit, so she guessed they weren't as bad as she originally thought. But she had remained cautious, for safety purposes.
"You may go wherever you'd like, but you best bloody stay away from those wall's. Never go Inside."
She remembered what Newt told her, the day before. She was already told the rules, and had the 'grand' tour. Nothing made any sense, considering her horrid vision, and the lack of privacy. But nonetheless, Nova had respected the rules. She also guessed that, maybe her parent's taught her well, long before any of this happened.
And she was right. She was taught quite well. Indeed.
***
"Why are you up in the tree's?" A deep voice of a male spoke, it wasn't Newt, for this male had no accent.
This startled Nova quite much, as she let out a squeak of fear. And fell right out of that tall tree, falling from great height's. Height's of at least, three feet.
The boy below caught her, just in time. Keeping her from harm. And she was now cradled in the boy's arms, her breath huffing, in a bit of fear from the fall. And shock.
"You're welcome." The boy didn't sound very friendly, he sounded angry all the time. "You just got here, and you're already trying to get yourself hurt, ya' shank."
Nova had recognized his voice, from when she arrived in the Box. But she couldn't tell who it was, exactly.
As if reading her mind, someone had yelled from across the Glade. "Gally!" The boy turned at who was calling his name, still holding Nova bridal style.
"What?" Gally had answered.
"Why are you holdin' Nova?" The boy, who was known as Alby, asked. "You shanks practicin' dance moves?" He added, with a chuckle.
"No!" Gally sounded be-withered, maybe even disgusted. "She fell from the tree's, and I caught her."
Alby crossed his arms, "Okay."
"I'm serious." Gally growled.
From Gally's movement, Nova hissed, in slight pain. Alby had noticed, and took a look at her. "She's hurt."
"Where?" Gally asked.
Alby touched the sensitive skin on Nova's left ankle, as she gasped a bit. "The tree must of scratched her good, there's little trickles of blood."
Gally took a look and sighed, "Great. Been here a few day's, and already got yourself hurt, Greenie."
"That's enough," Alby's voice was stern and serious. "Take her to the med-jack's, to get fixed up."
Gally had groaned a bit, with the roll of his eyes. Though Nova couldn't see it, she could just tell, by his tone of attitude.
***
Reaching the homestead, Gally stepped inside, continuing to hold Nova bridal style. "What happened?" The British lad had spoken, in question.
Nova knew she was never going to forget that was Newt, because now she knew, that he was the one with the glorious accent. Wasn't hard to forget. Wasn't hard to not know who he was.
"She fell out of the tree's, and hurt her ankle. Need I say more?" Gally sighed, as though it were obvious.
Newt had helped immediately, he took Nova from Gally, as he walked out to get his work done. Newt then sat Nova carefully onto one of the bed's.
"Clint!" Newt called out.
Hearing footstep's tapping down the wooden stairs, he came to Newt's voice. "Yes?"
Clint stopped in his track's, once he reached the bottom of the stairs. Looking over at Nova, "What's wrong with the Greenie, now?"
Newt shot him a death glare, for copying what Clyde had said two day's prior. He ignored Clint's remark and sighed, "She need's medical attention."
Nova remained to sit there patiently waiting, as she blinked her broken eyes. Just because she was blind, didn't mean her eyeball's never got dry. She was human, just like everyone else.
***
"Next time, try not to fall out of anymore tree's." Clint smiled, going back up the stairs, after doing his job. He seemed very nice, and Nova had liked him already. A future friend maybe, nothing more, nothing less.
"What did you do to fall out of a tree?" Newt asked, curiosity in his tone.
"Gally scared me, and I fell out of fear." Nova answered.
"That shuck-face is a bastard, why would he scare you like that?" He questioned. Adding, "Bloody-hell."
"No, no," Nova shook her head quickly. "It's okay, really. He didn't mean it, he saw me in the tree's in the first place, and he asked why I was up there."
"If anything, it was my fault, I shouldn't of been up there." Nova added.
"Well, to be fair. it's my fault." Newt chuckled.
Nova furrowed her brow's, as she was confused.
"I'm the one who told you that, you could go anywhere you'd like." Newt laughed.
Nova didn't answer, she merely just nodded in agreement, mimicking his laugh.
***
Gally stepped back inside the homestead, grumpy as always. "How's the shank doin'?" He crossed his arms.
"I'm okay." Nova smiled.
"Glad y'a finally care." Newt had chuckled. "It's about bloody time."
Gally groaned, "I was just asking, I didn't need a little lecture."
And with that, Gally had left the room, once again. "Ignore him, he's just hot-headed." Newt smiled.
Nova smiled right back. She could tell they were going to get along, quite well.
And boy, was she right.
