[BOOK ONE]
❝I see what other's don't.❞
Nova Is both you're average Glader, and not you're average Glader. Both. Because she has lost all of her memories, just like everyone else. And the fact that she Is Blind. So she's both.
Other than the fa...
Nova woke up to the ground rumbling, the lifted herself onto her elbow, laying on her side. Rubbing her eyes from access sleep, she placed her palm in the grass. Trying to see what's going on with the vibrations.
"Guys!" Chuck hopped up and down. "Get up!"
Newt grabbed onto Nova's arms, helping her to her feet. It wasn't like she was hurt at the moment, she just didn't get enough sleep through the night and her brain was still slightly dozed off.
David, Chuck, Newt and Nova all walked towards the wide opening of the Maze. Waiting for any sign of life, that wasn't an eight-legged slimy spider-scorpion of a monster. Any sign of actual hope, from their lost friends.
But, there was... nothing.
Absolutely, nothing.
Newt sighed through his nose, "Told ya' Chuck." Holding his hips, he looked down at the poor younger boy. "They're not coming back." He patted the boys back, and began walking towards the gardens to continue working.
David headed back towards the bloodhouse, to continue with his work alongside Winston. Him and Winston both got along really well, and are now considered close friends.
Chuck lowered his head to the ground just like last night, in sadness. Knowing that he was wrong, when he really wanted to be right this time. As he turned around and began his small little journey to the hammocks, to burry his sorrow into his makeshift pillow.
Nova began to turn around, to head to the kitchen. When suddenly, she felt slight vibrations. She furrowed her eyebrows, in both frustration and confusion.
"Wait..." She whispered to herself. She looked towards the Maze entrance again, "... do you guys feel that too?"
Newt turned back towards her, "Feel what? Remember, you're the only one here who feels vibrations, Nova."
"Yeah," David agreed. "What're you on about?"
Nova shook her head slowly, "I-I don't know." She stuttered, not able to pin-point it. "I feel something. I see vibrations coming from inside..."
"Vibrations?" Newt asked. "How?"
The vibrations were definitely human, and they were struggling. She then heard a distant groan, that no-one else seemed to notice, somehow.
She was in total shock at the discovery. "Their alive..."
"Nova," David muttered. "You're mumbling."
"Their alive!" Nova hollered this time.
And by some instinct, Nova ran straight into the Maze. Swallowing all of the fear she had of the giant labyrinth, ever since the Griever incident.
"Nova!" Newt yelled, worried. "What are you thinking?!"
Nova quickly turned a corner, and she disappeared within the walls. Newt was pacing back and forth, nervous and scared for the blind girl he'd felt attached to, and what could happen to her at any given moment.
"Stay here." Newt gritted his teeth.
"Wait, what?" Chuck's voice broke.
Newt entered the Maze for the first time, since his own accident. Chuck was in total shock, David was a little surprised. They both knew about Newt's accident, but never knew how severe it was, as they weren't there to witness it.
But as Newt got about halfway into the Maze, he stopped, feeling uneasy. Horrible flashbacks flooding his memory. He gripped his bad leg, in pain at the thought. He swore to himself that he'd never go back, but here he was...
Until finally, a smile grew on Newt's face. As his friends, rounded the corner. Expected to be dead, but was fully alive, one being unconscious.
Nova helped Thomas, drag Alby along. Alby's arms on Thomas' and Nova's shoulders, looking way past dead, but luckily wasn't. Nova was helping, because Minho already did enough work. So she decided to take his place, to give him a break.
"YES!" Chuck jumped up and down, as though he were cheering on a sibling winning a marathon.
Nova never realized how heavy Alby was, as she practically stumbled over her own feet a few times. But she wasn't one to give up, she fed up with the pain. She could obviously take a hit.
Despite his limp, Newt goes to help Minho's aching body walk towards their salvation. And soon enough, they all make it back into the Glade. As they carefully set Alby's limp body lay in the grass. Half of the Gladers make their way towards the Maze door, and surround an unconscious Alby.
"I don't understand, no-one survives a night in the Maze..." Chuck gleamed at Thomas with glee, as though he were his own superhero. "How'd you do it?"
Thomas looked back at the adorable young child, shaking his head. "I don't know. I kind of, just, did it." Shrugging, he smiled back just a bit. Glad he could make the boy's day, or even lifetime.
"Did you see a Griever?" Zart asked.
Thomas looked up at all of the Gladers, "Yeah-" He nodded. "-Yeah I did..."
Minho scoffed a tight chuckle, "He didn't just see one. He killed it."
Nova stood there in slight shock. In all of her years being there, or any of the Gladers, really. No-one, absolutely no-one has been able to do such a heavy task. No-one was able to survive even one night in the Maze. Let alone kill a Griever. She was amazed, to say the least.
And soon enough, the Gladers worked together to help Alby into the medhut, and laid him on a bed. They tied him up, since they knew he definitely got stung. They didn't want him attacking anyone, let alone killing anyone like Ben almost did with Thomas.
Nova couldn't help but think about future supplies. The Box still wasn't going back down, it hasn't moved a single inch since Teresa had arrived to the Glade. She was worried about it. She didn't even know if they had anymore Grief Serum or not, and that thought alone had her very concerned. But she wasn't the only one, that's for sure.
"Meet up for a Gathering," Gally stated. "We have a lot to talk about."
Gally was clearly not very happy. Nova could practically sense the hot steam coming from his ears and nose, like a raged bull with large twisted horns.
