Coming Out Of My Cage

Iseki was running as fast as he could through the forest of lost souls. His shoulder length black hair whipping in the wind as he jumped over twisting and gnarled roots. His dog-like ears could hear the pounding steps of his presuers and the grinding of stoney wings. (Damnit I'm never gonna lose these assholes with those fucking gargoyles on my tail.) He thought as he ducked under a low branch. He grabbed a stone on the way back up and spun to whip it at one of the flying creatures. It hit with a loud crack, a wing was crippled, and a gargoyle fell with an ear splitting screech. Iseki grinned triumphantly just before he was hit with a gust of wind that sent him flying into a tree. (Fuck. Casters.) He thought as he gasped for air. Suddenly he was surrounded with spears aimed at him. He gave a nervous chuckle and raised his hands in surrender. "What's up guys?" He said grinning.
A week later he found himself still in the azure cells. Which were essentially just magically floating cells over an ocean. (Well they forgot about me.) He thought as he held little balls of rust up to try and draw in a gull for food. One was getting close when the cell nearest to him was filled with a woman effectively scaring the bird away. He sighed and frowned. His red eyes roamed over the blonde woman in the cage next to him. (What the fuck is she wearing?) He wondered. He looked down at his baggier black pants with cinched ankles, bare feet, and up to his black shirt that had a deep V down to just below his ribcage. His left arm was short sleeved and the right was long. His necklace of a wolf head with wings holding a red gemstone was hanging loosely on his chest. (I know fashion hasn't changed to that.) He thought as he returned his gaze to the woman's unconscious body. (She's not from this world.) He reasoned. (This chick could be my ticket out of her and away from my past.) He nodded to himself and went back to try to lure the gulls. (Finally someone to talk to as well.)

Reyna groaned and put a hand to the back of her throbbing head. She was laying on her back but couldn't stretch her legs out fully. Which was saying Alot at her average 5'5 height and slim frame. She sat up slowly, trying to get her eyes to adjust. It had worked. She had woken herself out of her nightmare successfully. And then she remembered her dinner party. Had she fallen asleep and missed it? Her blue eyes shot open then to take in her surroundings. And that was when she looked below her and saw a vast body of water. Gasping, she scurried backwards until her back hit the caged wall, her surroundings rocking as if she were on a Ferris wheel. Her stomach lurched with the possibility of throwing up. She clung to the bars beside her head with sweaty fingers and looked up to see she wasn't being held in the air by anything. The cage was simply suspended high, way too high, in the air. "Holy fuck. This is not happening." She begged no one in particular as she clenched her eyes shut, willing them to find something different when she opened them again. Her breathing pitched higher and threatened to hyperventilate with panic that filled her like a pitcher into a cup.

Iseki watched the strange woman panic for a moment. "Relax. You're in the azure cells. My pretty face is all there is to look at other than the gulls." He said calmly. "And it's hard enough to get the blighters to come to me without you panicking." He stopped trying to lure the gulls and looked over at her. Then he spotted it. He stood as best he could and started rocking his cage until he got it to swing towards the woman's cage. Once they collided he grabbed on to her cage and started using strips of grey cloth to tie them together.

Reyna furrowed her brow at him. "I have absolutely no fucking idea what you're talking about!" She exasperated, opening her eyes back up and seeing him rocking his cage towards hers. "I don't know what the 'azure cells' are. Or how were floating in the air like this." She looked skyward again to try to see what she was attached to. Or what he was swinging on. She was brought out of her train of thought when he slammed into her cage, making her scream and cling to the bars harder as she rocked. "Holy fuck it's high." She whimpered then and pressed her face to the side of her cage with sadness. Where the hell was she? And why was she in a cage?
