Anoch got her message and her hopelessness. He ran to them as fast as he could. He frowned when he saw Chato Namur. "Statement. At least we weren't going in the wrong direction. We just have a bit further to go." He said seriously. He couldn't help but slip into his old way of speaking. He was frustrated and upset that things couldn't be easy like he needed.
Caleb stood then and nodded. "You're right. It's not completely wasted trip. We can still save them." He said with resolve. (Damnit how could I be so blind. I should have been more alert.) He thought.
Reyna turned away from the useless building below. She didnt need to see it anymore. "Lets just rest here for the night. We dont need to get there in daylight. And we should be able to get more nogos here." She reasoned, running a hand through her wind whipped hair.
Caleb sighed. "I can't believe I didn't think about this." He said. Frustration dripping from his voice.
Anoch nodded but stayed silent. He didn't want to wait. He wanted to go now and find the others. But he kept it to himself. (Where could they be? How much further?) He wondered.
Reyna frowned at anoch. "I know we should go now." She reasoned, almost as if reading his mind. "But we also dont know if my plan will work so practically we and the nogos need food and rest. If we go about this with our emotions we wont be strong enough." She added shaking her head. She wanted desperately to keep going. But if she let emotions rule her they would make mistakes.
Anoch nodded. He descreetly grabbed the thread. His worry and stress travelled along it unintentionally. (You're right. But we should watch him tonight to make sure he doesn't charge off on his own.) He thought to her.
Caleb frowned. "I'll set up camp." He said flatly. (Fucking idiot! How could you not have noticed the threads till now?) He demanded of himself.
Reyna nodded at anoch where caleb couldnt see her in agreement. She frowned and walked over to Caleb then, wrapping her arms around him in a hug. "Its not your fault. None of us were watching the threads." She reassured, squeezing her arms around his torso tighter to try to comfort him.
Caleb was taken by surprise at her sudden attempt to comfort him. (Is she actually hugging me? By choice?) He thought. "I don't know why I didn't think to look. I was so sure they were here that all other possibilities weren't a thing in my mind." He said frowning. "I was blinded by what I thought I knew."
Anoch frowned. (I wonder why it's so overgrown?) He thought as he looked at Chato Namur. (Something isn't right.) He had a dreadful feeling in his gut.
Reyna nodded and kept her arms around him even though he wasnt hugging her back. She pulled back enough to brush his dark hair out of his face. Maybe that would help. Playing with her hair comforted her. "Thats what we all did. Dont be so hard on yourself. If we keep focusing on the fuck up it will only lead to more in the future. We just need to wipe the slate clean and start with what we know now. Okay?" She asked, her blue eyes landing on his full of hope that he would be okay. She wasnt going to point out that he was doing the same thing with iseki. Being blinded by what he thought he knew.
Caleb nodded and hugged her back. "I'm sorry I lead us astray." He said quietly. "I promise we'll save them. Including your kanis." He couldn't remember Iseki's name. (And I'm only saving it because you're so attached to it.) He thought.
