"hey dad! are you home?" i yell entering his house
we had gotten in pretty late this morning but after we had gotten settled, we came up with a plan to tell dad about mom and Eli. we were all pretty nervous but we couldn't just keep this a secret forever. it had to be done.
"hey babygirl. i haven't seen you in almost a week. where've you been?" he questions hugging me
"just had somethings to finish up with the ep and stuff. nothing important. i wanted to ask if you wanted to join me and cameron for dinner? we need to talk" i say grabbing a strawberry
"is everything okay?" he asks with concerned laced in his voice
"no, everything's fine. we just wanted to catch up" i say quickly
he gives me a look before letting it go. i knew he was more concerned than what he was letting on.
"okay. i'll meet you guys later tonight"

"you guys almost ready? we gotta go" cameron says entering my room
i throw on some high waisted jeans, a white t-shirt, a jacket, and some yellow vans. i release a shaky breath before joining the rest of them out in the living room.
we were all on edge, just worrying about tonight. none of us know what to expect. i mean come on, if our dad was capable enough to make our mom leave us, what else could he do to separate us?

we all shuffle into the restaurant, waiting to be seated. we weren't sure if dad was there or not but we would have to face him sooner or later.
"okay guys, don't be nervous. everything is gonna be okay. just don't freak out" cameron says trying to ease everyone's nerves
Eli grabs onto my hand, giving me a gentle smile. we then follow the hostess towards a table.
our gazes become confused as we see dad and his fiancé, Veronica sitting in seats near the wall. our fathers expression comes off as shocked and surprised.
"Jennifer?" dad questions in surprise
"hello Jeff" mom clears her throat
out dad's gaze then turns towards Elijah and then falls back towards me and cameron.
"what the hell is going on?"
cameron gives me a look before stepping in front of our mom and Elijah.
"we knew that you wouldn't give up information about mom, let alone help us find her. so, we went looking for her anyways" cameron explains
"you're damn right! she's an addict, Lukas. once an addict, always an addict" he all but screams in his face
i push my mom and Eli behind me. it was a good thing we thought ahead and got a table in the back. otherwise, the whole restaurant would be starring at us right now.
"Jeff!" veronica yells as a warning and in shock
"why come back after all the years, huh? needed money to support your habits? well you're not bringing my kids into this! i forbid it" he yells over my shoulder
"dad stop! she's better. don't you dare yell at her or assume she's only here for money!" i yell pushing him away
"Jeff, i'm better now and i want to have a decent relationship with my kids. that's all i want" mom says calmly
"you should already know the answer to that. and who's that? someone you get high with?" dad snorts
we all get silent as he talks about Elijah. my expression then turns into one of disbelief.
"that's your son you asshole"
