Brooke nervously swung the plastic sack that she held steadily in her hand and watched the big metal doors in front of her stand completely still. She never walked into the schools building before 7:30 and she couldn't start now. Her schedule may be messed up slightly, but there were still some things that shouldn't change. Looking down at her watch she sighed seeing the minute left for her to wait.

"Brooke, where were you?" Lea walked up the steps and waited beside her. "You never miss walking with us."

"I went early to get a burrito." She answered staring at the door a little less intently.

Lea narrowed her eyes and waited next to her friend. She knew her issues were odd, but she didn't mind waiting beside her. "That's not like you to mess with your schedule. Was your dad not there to cook?"

She sucked at lying. "Yes...He was out." She watched her classmates open the door and go inside.

Nodding Lea chewed her gum and slowly blew a large bubble knowing it would irritate her. "Why do you have two burritos?"

Not knowing how to come up with a good lie, she silently counted down in her head. Finally, her mental alarm clock went off, and she opened the schools doors. "The other one is for Mrs. Davidson."

Lea widened her eyes and ran in front of Brooke to stop her. "Why?"

She shrugged and looked at the clock nervously. "She asked me too after our run."

"She's being really sweet on you B. What's going on? Are you being careful?"

"Yes!" Brooke wiggles her eyebrows, "What? Are you worried about me?"

Lea didn't change her worried expression, "Yes, I care about you."

Brooke was surprised by this comment. She never really spoke very often to Lea about personal issues or feelings, so it was peculiar to hear her so openly admit what she thought, but it was nice at the same time. She liked not having to guess. Reading people was never one of her strong suites so having everything laid out for her was paradise. "I'll be careful. I promise."

"Good." Stepping back and waving her ahead Lea placed her arm around her friends shoulder, "Go give that woman her breakfast so we can hang out."

"No need." Mrs. Davidson stated crossing her arms and leaning on the door frame. She looked between the two and let her eyes rest on Brooke. "I came to meet you, so you wouldn't have to walk all that way."

Holding out the sack Brooke smiled "I made sure they added just the right ratio of cheese. "She tried her best not to look at the clock. She knew she was running behind.

Glancing over at Lea with a blank expression Mrs. Davidson grabbed Brooke's hand with the sack and pulled her forward. She made sure their bodies were as close as possible. Opening the sack and seeing the tin foiled burritos she looked the shorter girl up and down and smirked, "I really am hungry." She lingered on those words for a few seconds before turning her head slowly and eyeing Brooke's friend, "You look a little hungry too kid."

Narrowing her eyes Lea watched the blonde turn away from her and smile kindly at Brooke.

"I'll have yours ready when you come to my class. Have a good day girls. "Winking at the two of them she finally let go of Brooke's hand and walked back into the main office. Disappearing as quickly as she showed up.

"She's never been in this school as much as she has this week the pinche puta." Lea sighed and followed the oblivious Brooke to her locker where she quickly grabbed her books. "What was that?!"

Her friend sighed not wanting to waste anymore time. "What was what?"

Rolling her eyes, she leaned back on the lockers and decided it was best to just drop the conversation. She wouldn't get anything out of her friend, but she had to talk to Casey. Their new friend was in a position that could let her get hurt, and she didn't even notice herself in the front lines.

"There's my journal! I thought I lost it!" Brooke commented pulling it into her arms and closing her locker, "It's not like me to misplace things. I don't know what's going on with my brain."

Walking her to class Lea shoved her hands in her pocket and stayed silent. She wanted to tell her it was probably because this woman she's been hanging with had made her stressed and anxious but it wouldn't help the situation. "You're probably tired amor." Lea finally whispered comfortingly. "Maybe tonight you can meet me at Casey's and we can just watch some movies and relax."

"Ok I'll text you." Brooke gave her friend an awkward hug to show her appreciation and went into her classroom. It probably surprised her because physical contact wasn't something she frequently did but it seemed like the right moment. Her father said it was important to make yourself get out of your own comfort zone. To her that was touching people.

Getting out all her supplies and setting them out on her desk she straightened them accordingly.

Mrs. Davidson watched her carefully through the doors window. She stood far enough away to look in but no one else could spot her. It was interesting the way Brooke's mind worked. She had only known her for a couple of days but her OCD was becoming more and more apparent. She wondered whether this behavior had come from. It was obvious that her brain just worked that way but she seemed to have ticks and anxiety's that made it worse. Her friend probably wasn't helping her.

She needed to see more. It would do her no good to go into anything without needed information. Brooke obviously needed her. So she needed to know more in order to give her what she needs. Her father would be able to give her more.

Putting on her sunglasses, she walked through the school and pushed open the front doors. The breakfast place Brooke's Father worked at wasn't far away and she could go for a coffee.
